Unexpected Pregnancy

Hi,
I'm really looking for real life experiences here.
I've just found out I am about 5.5 weeks pregnant. Completely unexpectedly! The father is someone I dated for about a month but then we both went our separate ways. No hard feelings, just a lot going on in both of our lives.
Back story is, I have a 5 year old son with ASD and a single parent since he was 5 weeks old.
I have told the father, and he is supportive of whatever I choose, however believes a termination would be the logical thing to do considering we don't know each other, I already have a child etc.
I just don't think I can go through with it. I honestly think it would destroy me for the rest of my life.
Has anyone else been in this situation? I need the good, bad and the ugly honest truths. My head has not stopped spinning.
TIA.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've no personal experience. But my best friend went to work in London and had a 1 month thing with a guy. Went their separate ways she discovers she's pregnant.

He was ok about it but they didn't know each other. She moved back home to have the baby they weren't together and he made things quite stressful for her throughout the pregnancy.

However when baby arrived he just made it in time for the birth and came over every few weeks - they went onto have a relationship and 4 years later have their 2nd.

I'm not saying you're concerned about a relationship with the father or that you want one just that things can sometimes work out well when it really is uncertain at the beginning.

Obviously you also have a child with extra needs which is different too. Would you have liked to have a sibling for your DS? Have you family support?x

Thanks for your reply!
I always did want a sibling for my son, but I always said I wanted my next pregnancy to be positive, not one clouded with negativity. And I think this will be.
I have family support, and I also have a good support network of friends, secure work and I am paying off my home.
I really think the 'what ifs?' would haunt me forever. Such as what if I never had any more children and this was my only chance?

It sounds like you want to have this baby. You have to listen to your own instincts on this one it's not up to anyone else. Congratulations OP.

How old are you? Is it really your last chance? It sounds like it would be hard work for you on your own, but only you can decide if that's something you can do. Have you told any friends/family and had their input? You have to discount the dad from all of this at the moment, as you don't know how he will behave. Whatever decision you make, make sure it's the right one for you and your little boy. Lots of luck.

I would ask to have this moved over to pregnancy choices where you might get more responses from people who are / have been in a similar situation Thanks

Hi there OP,

We hope you don't mind, we're going to move this to Pregnancy Choices now.
