When/Did your bump' drop?

FTM currently 38+2, and just wondering if and when everyone's bumps 'dropped'? Does it happen for everyone?

DD is big, so have an induction date set for 41 weeks at the latest, but hoping she comes of her own accord before then. Is it true you carry differently depending on gender?

I think maybe it's a bit lower, but to be honest, could be her just changing position. She's head down (has been for a few weeks now).

I'm just worried she's not getting low enough, therefore increasing my chances of going through to induction?

40+3 with my third baby and have never had a bump drop! I’ve always carried really high right until delivery.

DiaryofWimpyMum · 30/12/2018 19:08

My bump didn't drop at all.

ShowOfHands · 30/12/2018 19:13

Never happened to me and labours started at 38 and 36 weeks respectively.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 30/12/2018 19:19

Mine dropped the night before my waters broke. It was so obvious I ended up taking a photo and it does look very odd!

BlueMoon33 · 30/12/2018 19:29

Mine never dropped.

I was a week over my due date and the cashier at Aldi’s asked my date and then proclaimed ‘Oh no! Your bump is too high!’

Not what I needed to hear at that stage in the game!

Babies born at 38+3 and 39 weeks. Neither time did the bump 'drop'.

SawnUpLooRoll · 30/12/2018 19:33

In the veg aisle of Lidl. It was with DC2 and very sudden.

I walked in with the average waddle and walked out like I was smuggling a bowling ball in my fanjo.

Mine dropped slowly after 36 weeks and took pics to compare. Could even feel more space at the top of my bump. 39+4 and had my bloody show this morning!

FirstTimeBumps · 30/12/2018 20:07

39+4 also. Bump hasn't dropped, was not engaged at my 38 week appt and don't think he or she has engaged still.

NatureGal · 30/12/2018 20:32

Never dropped in 3 pregnancies. I remember my first and standing in a shop queue at 36+1, two ladies telling me I had a long while to wait as my bump hadn't dropped. I had never heard anyone mention this before and was a bit baffled. My waters broke that afternoon, and I had DC 1 the following day.

Thanks for the replies.

Had a midwife appointment today and told the head is 3/5ths engaged, which I'm hoping is a good thing.

How engaged the baby is doesn't mean anything in real terms. It doesn't indicate labour is close for example. My first was fully engaged for 8 weeks and my second never engaged but labour started anyway. And the sex of the baby doesn't affect how you carry.

Basically, in a low risk pregnancy, your baby will come between 37 and 42 weeks, usually later in a first pregnancy than in subsequent pregnancies and you can't guess when.

Good luck and fingers crossed for labour before induction!

Last Friday! At 38+4, this is baby number 3. Walking is way more uncomfy, but I can breathe properly!

Jackshouse · 01/01/2019 06:47

Never. DD never engaged.

Dimsumlosesum · 01/01/2019 06:52

Never with all three.
