I'm 39+5 and due on tuesday with my second, I have a midwife appointment on Wednesday and she said if I want she will give me a sweep. With my first I declined it but I just want the baby to be here because I'm so uncomfortable! Is it as sore as everyone says it is?? Or is it just uncomfortable?

I had one with my second and it was fine for me :) Bit like a mild period cramp. DD came the next day. Good luck!

I'm a few days behind you and extremely tempted. My midwife said to take paracetamol half an hour before the appointment. As she out it, if it's not uncomfortable, it's not doing the job. I can kind of see that logic. I'd rather be a bit more uncomfortable and it to have more chance of working.

I had one with my second and she came the next day bit uncomfortable but nothing major.
I also had one with my 3rd but the sweep didn't work and I was induced the next day. Again a bit uncomfortable but over in a minute

I had one at exactly 40 weeks and it was fine, just a tad uncomfortable. I had another one 5 days later. That one was, let's say more robust, but I didn't find it painful (and it worked, I had contractions not long afterwards). However, I think the pain is linked to your tolerance (midwife for first sweep was adamant she'd been quite robust and seem surprised I didn't ask her to stop) and how favourable your cervix is (I was already 2cm dilated and cervix was soft but posterior with first sweep, then anterior with second)

Update - got it done and it wasn't painful at all! Although it's more than 24hours later and it didn't send me into labour :(
