Hi all

Interested to know about your first time bumps! I’m currently 13+4 and I’m sure I can see a belly pooch already. It may also be down to the excessive Christmas eating too! 🙊 I’m usually a size 8-10 and very into health and fitness (just not at Christmas!) so it’s noticeable when I put weight on. I’m starting to feel so bloated I’m looking at maternity jeans! When did you start to show with your first? x

Probably not the most helpful but I was showing at 12 weeks, not huge bump but definitely noticeable but I was having twins. I was in maternity jeans about then.
I'm now 14 weeks pregnant with a single baby and have been showing for about a week. I couldn't wait to get the maternity jeans out this time, they're the best.

Wingingeverything · 30/12/2018 06:47

I started showing at about 26 weeks and really popped at about 32 weeks. My bump was never massive tho(although I felt huge!)I just looked like I had stuck a football up my jumper 😄 x

fizzytonicplease · 30/12/2018 07:37

I was about 16 weeks with my first when i had to get the maternity clothes out (i was a size 10/12). With my second i am currently 14weeks with a little bump ( i was a size 8/10), and i dont think im going to last to 15 before i have to go in maternity clothes out and i cant wait! X

Laura1609 · 30/12/2018 09:00

I can’t wait to get a bump, so excited for it! Maybe not when it gets huge and I have to slow down.
Thank god I’m telling people at work next week otherwise they’ll be thinking I’ve been eating Christmas dinners every day for the past two weeks!

I was 9 weeks when all trousers and jeans got too small. I turned to dresses at work and leggins at home. Bit of a shock as id worked there for 2 years and not once worn a dres or skirt. Managed to pull it off as a new years thing along with no coffee. Ive never stopped wearing my over the bump leggins though, my tummy enjoys the added warmth

nic01234 · 30/12/2018 10:38

@Laura1609 my bump started appearing at 10w (was maybe so early because I had a loss earlier in the year and muscles hadn't had time to shrink back!).

My advice would be to get the maternity jeans now! I waited, thinking it was way too early, but as soon as I put them on around 14w I felt amazing. Actually cried, because I hadn't realised how uncomfortable I'd been trying to squeeze into regular clothes!

fizzytonicplease · 30/12/2018 10:49

@nic1234 your post has just convinced me to try my maternity jeans on now and not wait another week....wow sooo comfy! X

fizzytonicplease · 30/12/2018 10:50

Tag fail! @nic01234

nic01234 · 30/12/2018 10:59

@fizzytonicplease do it!! I'm 19w now and still smile at how comfy my maternity jeans are. Pretty sure I'm going to keep wearing them post-pregnancy (ie for the rest of my life!!) tooGrin

TerriB84 · 30/12/2018 11:07

I had a definite bump by 12 weeks. We waited to tell people till after the first scan and a few people had guessed because they had noticed my bump. I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and already got a small bump. we have chosen to tell close friends and family already as there’s no way I can keep it concealed for another few weeks

Laura1609 · 30/12/2018 11:09

Thanks ladies! That’s it, I’m getting the jeans now! Any recommendations?! Might try some ASOS ones x

OP posts:
FannyAndMoonFace · 30/12/2018 11:11

I was really disappointed with the ASOS ones and sent them back.
Last pregnancy I lived in the H&M over the bump ones and have got them again this time in black and in blue Grin

LeeCee · 30/12/2018 11:14

Second the H&M ones - got two pairs and have worn them to death.

TokenGinger · 30/12/2018 11:27

I got some ASOS jeans and they are bloody terrible! They're really loose and baggy around the entire leg. I felt like I was wearing my mum's unfashionable jeans. So they're getting returned.

I've literally ordered from and tried everywhere for maternity jeans that look like normal jeans and the best I've found are Matalan's and they're only £14! I usually only ever get jeans from River Island and New Look but these are great. I got the under the bump, as I don't really have a bump yet so the full bump jeans just rolled down.

fizzytonicplease · 30/12/2018 12:15

They are on ladies and they are so comfy! I got mine from h&m.

sirmione16 · 30/12/2018 12:23

Honestly, I bought 3 pairs of maternity jeans from 3 different shops when I was about 18 weeks and beginning to get uncomfortable. So expensive, and I've lived in leggings the past few months. Just buy a size up in them and TRUST ME most comfortable thing ever. Currently 36+3

TokenGinger · 30/12/2018 12:33

The H&M ones I couldn't stand. I am a size 12 normally, so not stick thin but not hugely overweight, and the H&M ones have the fabric band around the back as well as the front, which didn't give my muffin top on the back any support at all and it kind of just dangled over. Whereas the Matalan jeans are still "jeans" at the back and only the soft fabric band at the front so still kind of hold you in.

nic01234 · 30/12/2018 16:14

I've been wearing the H&M ones and they are a dream! I've never had any luck with standard jeans from there (I'm size 10-12) but the size 12 maternity jeans are fantastic for me. Haven't tried any others to compare though.

BeverlyZimek · 30/12/2018 18:35

I’m 33 weeks with twins and started showing at about 12 weeks but it wasn’t particularly noticeable until about 18 weeks then I really popped at 28 weeks. Now I feel absolutely huge 😂

Giraffe888 · 31/12/2018 13:18

I’m 9+6 with my first and I’m usually a size 6 with a flat tummy. I gave up on my jeans 10 days ago as far too uncomfortable! X

BeverlyZimek · 31/12/2018 13:35

@Giraffe888 yeah I very quickly gave up squeezing into my jeans 😂 I 100% recommend buying some maternity jeans once you get bigger though xx

BeverlyZimek · 31/12/2018 13:36

They’re a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it

sirmione16 · 01/01/2019 00:45

Have a look on Facebook marketplace and the like for someone selling some second hand ones! (Me in a few weeks!)

2dogsandPG · 01/01/2019 00:54

New Look jeggings are amazing, OP. They don't lose their stretch!

BeverlyZimek · 03/01/2019 22:32

Here’s what my bump was looking like last night. I feel huge and uncomfortable with these two going crazy in there 😂 I’m being induced on Wednesday though and think I’ll actually miss it despite how much I complain 😢
