Is there anything to try and dull the itching?! Had it last night i was awake all night clawing at my skin and its started again tonight. I know it's a symptom of toomuch bile etc i will ring midwife tomorrow but at the moment I just need a bit of relief so I can get some sleep. Im trying not to itch but it's just making me twitch and move about more!

Cold water did it for me. Spent time under a very cold tap and cold compress!

GetHappy · 28/12/2018 21:58

Try a cold shower

But please please get this checked.... I’m in my second pregnancy and just been diagnosed with Obstetric Cholestasis

How many weeks are you?

MrsNai · 28/12/2018 22:01

Do you have any mint body cream, moisturiser or spray, if so that helps.

If not slathering a layer of moisturiser all over then putting on long pyjamas is good.

If you can put a pair of thin cotton socks or gloves in the freezer then wear them that helps too.

Do look at the ICP support website for excellent support and advice, if it does appear to be ICP/Obstetric Cholestasis. www.icpsupport.org

Lovely thanks everyone! This is my secondtoo, I had it really bad with my first but didn't get it checked out as I felt a bit embarrassed that I was being a ott first time being pregnant and whatever. I'm 31 weeks pregnant now Started out of no where last night, itchy legs and arms but the palms and soles of my feet I have been rubbing them on our door mat to get some relief. I said to OH we'd see if it came back tonight and if so we'd ring up tomorrow and get some advice. I've been fine all day and it's just started again!

Sounds like OC, get seen tomorrow.

Squiff70 · 28/12/2018 22:25

Be really careful using a doormat to scratch - they're not the cleanest of things and if you break the skin it could get infected. I hope your midwife can help you and that you feel better soon!

Yep definitely will ring up tomorrow, somethings not right I can't go another 9 weeks scratching like this . Is nail colour part of it too? As my nails have been bright yellow past week. Didn't think nothing of it but now I'm wondering if its all linked? I've got some cool spray so sprayed some on. Let's hope for a good night's sleep

The yellow colour to your nails could indicate jaundice which can be part of obstetric cholestasis - do the whites of your eyes look normal? Hopefully nothing but definitely get checked out tomorrow, hope you find something to help with the itching tonight!
