Engaged 3/5

So I am 36+5 weeks with my first baby, was at midwife yesterday and she never mentioned baby being engaged, just looked at my notes which are now on an app and it says baby is engaged 3/5. I looked this up online and found it means head is engaged. Does anyone know if this means I could go early or what it means at all...i feel like my midwife tells me nothing and feel clueless about the full thing.

It doesn’t mean anything with regards to when baby will come unfortunately, it just describes where the baby’s head is.

My earliest baby was the one not engaged at all!

Does it say relation to brim 3/5? That’s how it’s written on mine and is actually the other way round so it means they can feel 3/5a above the pelvis so 2/5s is in position. Mine were this at 35 weeks then this week at 36 weeks his head has receded a bit and he was back at 1/5 ! The midwife said they can move and it’s not indication of when baby will come, some women go into labour with it in our position whereas others are more engaged. Hope that helps! 🙏

Out of curiosity if it doesn’t indicate anything what is the purpose of recording engagement?

They just note down their findings upon examination. Standard in medical appointment.

It’s to document that there is a ‘pole’ fixed in the pelvis and that there isn’t an unstable lie. While this has little relevance at 28 weeks, it does during later weeks.
Also, especially with first babies it’s reassuring to know that the presenting part is able to ‘fit’ inside the pelvis.

With my first I was fully engaged from 34 weeks. She came at 40+6.
Currently just over 40 weeks with DC3 and the head is only 1/5 engaged!

39+2 and 3/5 engaged. I have given up trying to predict when it'll happen! But I have had enough and feeling super uncomfy.
