Since yesterday every time I stand up I get a shooting pain in the back of my pelvis, almost in my bum cheek and it causes my leg to give way

Has anyone had this & found that anything helps?!

I had this! Admittedly I never got it checked out as it only ever lasted a few hours and went away for weeks at a time. Currently 36+1 and not had it for a while now :S sorry this isn't much help but also here to see if someone else had a diagnosis Grin

Yes I was admitted to hospital. Not out of worry about the baby but because I was completely immobile and my mw knew I wouldn't get seen before birth. I was given crutches a brace and painkillers. Ring your midwife. It did go and I didn't have it in my following pregnancy.

Diagnosis was SPD
Which I believe is now PGP

Yes. Am 37 weeks and got this about 2.5 weeks ago. It could be sciatica (an umbrella term for various possibilities) or I was told I could have pulled a glute. Couldn't walk further than to the kettle.

Speak to your midwife as yours sounds pretty bad. Be prepared to push and escalate if you have to as weakness is serious. I don't think i had weakness, just total bloody agony.

I have been seeing a specialist physio who gave me some exercises and stretching to do. It is now greatly improved but not yet 100%. Gentle swims have also helped.

I had this at 25 weeks and it was my si joint. It's not what you want to hear but using it helped. Walking slowly with a stick in sturdy shoes. Also a couple of YouTube videos with specific stretches and massages. It went quite quickly.

Does yours go away, OP? Or is it constantly there?

erykahb · 28/12/2018 15:10

Thank you for your replies!!!! It's nice to see other people having had this.

Sirmoine yeah I think I exaggerated it in this post- if I've rested then it doesn't come back straight away, I'll think it's gone and then it'll come back as I'm walking. It's only just started and I've never experienced it before! I'm glad to read yours went away, I hope it doesn't come back!!!
