Hi all

I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks ago. Every day since I have tested once (sometimes twice!) a day.

My last pregnancy ended in MC unfortunately and I am already past the point I was then and I thought that would be the milestone for me to stop testing but I'm not having many symptoms so I can't stop testing for peace of mind!!

When did you stop testing? How did you stop? Any advice?! Thanks Confused

I ended up testing everyday until my first scan at 7wks and 4 days and saw the heartbeat. I just had really cheap internet sticks so justified to myself that it was ok to keep testing as hadn't spent much Confused

Really hope everything works out for you :)

I had an early scan at 7 weeks. Once I'd seen a heartbeat it made things much easier for me to stop testing.

I think what you're going through is totally normal though. I've struggled to relax into my post miscarriage pregnancy. I've tried to focus on the mantra of "today I am pregnant" rather than worrying about the tomorrow's and what ifs.

I stopped as soon as I had a positive test. My view was that unless something happened to tell me otherwise, I was pregnant.

I tested once, i could easily of just carried on but didnt want to fuel anixety

madeinthe80z · 27/12/2018 20:54

Thanks @pickle162 @Si1ver did you pay to have a private scan? Think we are going to. Not sure if we would get one through nhs due to past history but haven't even sorted midwife or doctors out yet! I did it far too early last time!

When I got a 3+ and then shortly after when I saw the heartbeat on a scan.

With both my MCs (one missed, and it went on months and months and one chemical) I did actually have an inkling from testing so I’m not of the “one test” mentality.
With the MMC my levels were rising slowly, progressing but not as I expected and I got stuck on 2-3 weeks for ages although it eventually went up and didn’t end for ages, so I guessed and booked an early scan.
With the chemical I had super faint lines and watched them stay faint and after a few days of that I just waited to bleed, so when it happened it wasn’t remotely a shock.

With current one, I tested until I got 3+ after a reasonable time frame and then booked an early scan.

Yes I did @madeinthe80z, I had IVF though and so I paid for all my early scans and pre treatment scans. They cost around £89 a go. I had one at 7 weeks and then one at 10 weeks as I had to go away with work and wanted to check everything was on track before I told work which I had to do for my work travel insurance.

I had fertility treatment so as part of package you got an early scan.
I paid for a 16/17week gender scan which was nice to see my little one again.
I used window to the womb who often have little deals around, but they were nice and gave different branches around the country

Thanks all, hopefully an early scan will nip it in the bud!

I got a very faint bfp around 5 days before I was due (medical appointment I couldn't go to if pregnant was the only reason I tested) so tested again the day I was due. Didn't test again.

I tested twice when I initially found out and then randomly from then until first scan. I had also had a previous MC and needed the reassurance and stopped once I saw the heartbeat at 11 weeks. In hindsight I should have gotten a scan sooner, maybe around 8 weeks, and it would have put my mind at ease sooner. Plus if anything was wrong your body normally lets you know and I found I had more pregnancy symptoms with this pregnancy than when I had before the miscarriage. Currently 23 weeks.

Lauren83 · 28/12/2018 16:14

Twice a day until first scan at 5weeks then weekly scans for quite a while, think I had them at 5,6,7,8,10,12,15,20,26, 3 scans were NHS the rest private (History of failed IVF and MMC)

MrsG010814 · 28/12/2018 19:26

I stopped after a positive test. There's no point testing after that as even if something was going wrong you would still be testing positive. I don't mean that to sound harsh but unless you have signs that something isn't right then the chances are everything is fine. Even an early scan will only reassure you for the time your in the scan, I would try and keep busy to keep your mind off things until you get to 12 weeks then hopefully you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

I think an early scan is great I had mine on Monday and it really put my mind at ease seeing little one on screen
