So me and my partner have decided the time is right for children. I’ve been off my pill for 2 weeks now and have been having unprotected sex quite regularly.
Just wandering as I never had periods when I was on the pill so can I get pregnant straightaway or not also how long does your period take to come back once pills stopped. I was taking the progesterone only pill many thanks

Yes, you can get pregnant immediately.

How long it takes for cycles to return varies from person to person, I was straight back in to a 28 day cycle (so ovulated 14 days after stopping the pill then 28 days after that) but others on here have taken more than a year to get regular again.

Just enjoy shagging and see what happens. GPs generally won't get involved until after 12 months.

Yes. You ovulate THEN have a period if the egg isn't fertilised/ doesn't implant.

1st time around it took me 18 months to fall pregnant after coming off the pill. This time around I fell within 2 weeks, before I'd even had a period. It was a bit of a shock to fall so quickly! It can take a few months for your body to find its natural rhythm but it's not a hard and fast rule.

Good luck!

Thankyou. Yes I know docs said it can happen immediately. I was just unsure as haven’t had a period for 2 years since being on pill didn’t think would ovulate straight away.

Yep! I got caught straight away, like you I never had a period whilst on the pill. It came as a bit of a shock to be honest as we thought it would probably take a while if at all! As I'm an "older" mum to be (I'm 38) I'm now 29wks.

Ok thankyou.

That’s good to know as I thought it would take a while. Good luck with your baby xx

I fell pregnant within 2 weeks of coming off the progesterone only pill. Didn't have a period first and hadn't had one for 7 years (had the implant before I went on the pill) so it's definitely possible!!

So I’m not too sure but on Saturday night I had bleeding only spots for about 5 minutes then stopped. Could this be a withdrawal bleed from stopping pill or what? Been so tired this last week too. Tia x

So I had a bit of spotting on 29th dec think it was ovulation spotting then Sunday and Monday had light cramping and mild backache. That was 9 days after spotting. Is this my body preparing for a period or could it be implantation I’m confused. Many thanks
Ps been off pill for 3 weeks now so I’m expecting it around Sunday five or take a few days
