Looking for a good-value and comfortable rocking chair for nursing when our baby arrives.

Which ones have you had? Any particular features we should be looking for?

TIA.

Buy second hand. You don't use them for that long.

Contrary to the above, we used for at least 3 years so were glad of a decent one. Combination of DC who woke in the night and were cuddled to sleep a lot, plus having 2 DC close in age.
We had a tutti bambini nursing chair and it’s now in the nursery waiting for DC3’s arrival (any day now), 5 years after we bought it for DC1.

Not to say that a second hand one won’t be decent, just that ours did get used a lot!

We would hopefully get second hand, mortified, just wondering if there are any particular chairs that are better than others. Thank you, SoyDora.

Try a few, I personally didn't like rocking chairs, and neither did DS! He was a nurse to sleep kud which I found easiest in bed. ended up with a stocksund from IKEA when DS was 18months and he loves snuggling on it with one of us for his bedtime story, he's now 3.

I used the IKEA poang chair for my last two kids - £40 new, and I found it really comfy. To be honest, I didn’t use it that much though. I mostly nursed on the sofa downstairs, or propped up in bed with pillows. I used the chair when I was putting them to bed in their own room, and that was about it.

We have a Poang too, which is super comfy. It's actually the comfiest chair in the house at the moment for me while pregnant!

Ikea Poang all the way- very comfy in late pregnancy (and early labour!), cheap, loads of different colours and the arm rests are a perfect height for me.

Isn’t totally hideous either, so when we’re fibished with it in the nursery we can bring it downstairs again without it looking too out of place
