Kinda baby related..

Does anyone else have TMJ disorder or have had TMJ arthroplasty at all?

I had the surgery in May and still feeling the after effects!! I'm waking up, daily, with a bad headache and paracetamol isn't doing anything.

I can't take anything else can I?

Thank You

TMJ is a really hard condition to manage.. have you had Botox to the masseters and or the temporalis? Unfortunately they won't do this whilst you're pregnant but something to consider after.

JustMe18 · 27/12/2018 08:27

@jq28 No, they jumped straight to open jaw surgery! It was pretty bad.

I'm just really suffering at the moment and really fed up!

I get a lot of patients that really benefit from the Botox. Or cryotherapy to the nerve that runs below the jaw can help. It's so hard to manage though like I said sometimes it just doesn't feel better for some periods.

@jq28 Thank you.. I'll go back to my surgeon for post birth suggestions.

I really appreciate your help xxxx

Have you tried wearing a splint/nightguard? Do you grind your teeth?
Various exercises?

JustMe18 · 27/12/2018 09:10

@BaaBaaBaaMoo Yep, got a splint. I have brutal exercises to do, but, I need codeine before I can do it and obviously being pregnant I've had to stop Confused

Try warm compresses to the area too for some temporary relief

Mine obviously was nowhere near yours but I do some not awful exercises off the Internet as soon as I can feel mine.

JustMe18 · 28/12/2018 20:36

@lauraannk I've found solace in ice packs ❤️
