Apologies If this is in the wrong topic.
I'm 8w1day and just come back from my consult with the gynae.
He did an ultrasound and said that it doesnt look like it will be a healthy pregnancy.
There wasnt a heartbeat. And the baby was measuring too small. He however said that I should wait a day to confirm.
He sent me to do a blood test this morning and he will do another one tomorrow morning just to confirm my hcg levels. If not he will do a DNC.

Please anyone who has been through anything similar or can offer any advice. Feel so devastated.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

If you are absolutely certain of your dates, at this point it does seem very likely this is a miscarriage.

moomin11 · 27/12/2018 07:45

So sorry you are going through this, did he say how many weeks you were measuring? When I had my checks they said there is a specific size where if no heartbeat is found it is confirmed as a miscarriage. Below this they tend to do follow up scans to check for any growth/progression. I had 2 losses before my DD and then an ectopic last year and now a suspected miscarriage again, it is so hard Flowers

Apple103 · 27/12/2018 07:55

Thank you both. Moomin I'm sorry you went through that as well😔

I'm just so worried and also expecting the worst. I did the blood test at 4 weeks and today when I saw my gynae for the first time he said the blood test indicated I was 6.5weeks. He said that didnt sound right. So I'm just confused about the whole thing. He also put me on progesterone from 4 weeks till today.

He said he just wants to make sure that's why we are doing the blood tests today and tomorrow.

Not my personal experience but I have read lots of people have gone through similar but when they've returned for a follow up scan in a week or 2 weeks, a heartbeat could be found .

Are you sure of your dates? Possibly ask for a longer window before the d&c and a follow up scan?

Big hugsxx

Is the fetal pole measuring under or over 7mm? If they gave you the scan photo then it should say on there. Under 7mm then the national guidelines are to wait until it is bigger to say it is not viable.

Just wanted to update. I tested my levels this morning and the doctors office just called to say my levels went up from 34000 - 41000. So they are going to hold off with anything and test and scan in a weeks time. Does anyone know what these levels indicate? Is it a good amount or just raised marginally?

I thought HCG levels doubled every day or two in early pregnancy? The levels quoted online say yours are at the lower end of the range but as with everything it’s a range and so that’s not to say yours isn’t viable.

I would plan for the worst and hope for the best in your situation OP. Good luck

moomin11 · 28/12/2018 13:11

It's difficult to say as they did them a day apart, they normally take bloods 48hrs apart and expect to see them roughly double. Sometimes hcg levels are slow to rise and everything is fine, but it can also be a sign the pregnancy isn't viable. They didn't bother taking my bloods at all this time and just went by the scans. Sadly my miscarriage was confirmed yesterday and I'm booked in for surgical management on Monday. The time when you're waiting to find out is so hard as you're in limbo, I hope it passes quickly for you Apple103

Thank you. I've had a lot of bleeding over the weekend so will mention it when I go into hospital tomorrow. Hoping they will scan me to see if everything has passed. Would be good not to need the procedure. It's been such a difficult few weeks I just want it to be over now. Thank you for thinking of me, I hope you are ok x

Apple103 · 31/12/2018 16:35

Hi Moomin. Just thinking of you and how you're doing? Hope you didnt need to do the procedure today. X

Hi Apple, I'm doing ok. Was in hospital for half the day but the scan showed I had a complete miscarriage over the weekend and didn't need the procedure. Am relieved but feeling a bit emotionally battered by the whole experience.

How are you holding up? When is your next scan? X

Apple103 · 31/12/2018 21:38

I'm glad under the circumstances that you didnt have to do the procedure. But nevertheless its just as traumatic going through this process. I hope you have a good support system right now. X

My scan is on Thursday. I've also feeling a loss of symptoms so that's making me more convinced that I should prepare for the worst.

I hope the next few days pass quickly for you. I read so much online about situations like ours and it really can go either way, I hope it's a positive outcome for you xx

I am doing ok, just sad that this is how the year ended. I can hear fireworks and my phone keeps going off with new year messages, I feel completely detached from it all! X

apple103 Did you go for your scan today? I was thinking about you x
