Babymoon Suggestions

I'm currently 13+6 and DP & I are thinking of going on a little holiday before the baby comes (due in June). We're thinking of going around end of February/ beginning of March, so I'll be about 22/23 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go or where to avoid? Ideally looking for somewhere nice and warm but don't know if flying long haul is recommended? Any suggestions or ideas very welcome!

If you want somewhere warm at that time of year without going longhaul id recommend the Canary Islands. They’re warm all year round and flights are only 4ish hours.

Crete in Greece is amazing at that time of year as it’s off peak so pretty quiet and weather isn’t too hot but nice and comfortable. We had most of the beaches to ourselves when we went as it was off peak. It was amazing & defo recommend it plus it’s a short flight :)

Tenerife

How about Dubai or somewhere in that region? Flight time 6.5-7 hours, I went at 24 weeks and it was lovely

I loved Tenerife! So cheap and quiet this time of year and it's still warm!

Stealing your thread sorry - but has anyone seen travel insurance for 32/33 weeks pregnant? I was planning a baby moon but can't go anywhere until April because of annual leave - and it seems after 26 (or maybe 28) weeks travel insurance will only cover me and not baby...anyone found any travel insurance that covers me and baby later into pregnancy?

GabbyGal · 27/12/2018 16:54

@kingofthemountains can’t help with travel insurance but many airlines won’t allow you to travel after 28ish weeks, something to keep in mind if you’re planning to book for 32/33 weeks.

Thank you for all the suggestions. Are you allowed to fly long haul when pregnant? I didn't know if it was advised against or not?

Sorry also no help on the travel insurance front I'm afraid!

Should be fine flying long haul just get flight socks to avoid clots from happening and stay hydrated and keep moving. Of course check with your midwife before you go as everyone’s pregnancy is so different ie low risk / high risk etc

We went to Crete. It was lovely. I think I was about 32 weeks pregnant and needed to get a letter from my GP to say I was fit to travel to show to the airline if necessary. Different airlines have different policies.

In February, it won’t be that warm though so somewhere like Dubai or the canaries could be better options. I got up and walked around regularly on the flight and drank plenty of water. My mum also made me wear those flight socks which was probably a good idea.

We went to the Amalfi coast, on the logic that if I couldn't drink I definitely wanted to be somewhere with great food so I could pig out! Depends on what kind of holidays you like though - other people seem to be suggesting beach destinations, and I can see the appeal of that too!
