Vaginal cramps 1st trimester

8 weeks at present and started experiencing sharp cramps down below near the vagina. Started last night and is also there today. It’s definitely different from the uterine stretching which is higher and dull compared to this.

Has anyone here experienced this? So worried..

Didn't want to read and run. How are you feeling? I didn't have this but I used to get shooting pains which have now passed. I used to get random pains, hard to know what's normal and what's not isn't it.

Hi @scotday thanks so much for responding. At times yesterday it did feel similar ie like shooting pains both in uterine area and lower down but thankfully today is a better day. I will try and get another GP referral for a scan as the 12 week mark is still far off.

How far along are you? Hope you had a good Xmas

I'm sure it's totally normal, I had so many aches and pains to start with that were so hard to describe and I'm now 20 weeks along. I have my anomoly scan tomorrow, looking forward to seeing the baby and hopefully everything is developing well. I did pay for a private 8 week scan as I was stressing about everything with it being my first pregnancy and it did reassure me that everything was well. The scan was just a blob really but it was great to see the heartbeat, sac, pole etc

That’s great scottay all the very best for tomorrow

This is my first pregnancy as well if I don’t count the two mmcs I’ve had previously. Which is why every ache and pain leaves me very anxious. I had an early scan at 7 weeks which showed all was ok but that was before these cramps.. hoping everything is still ok 🤞

Do update about tmw and thanks again for responding here 😘

Totally normal. Known as 'fanny daggers' I believe Grin

TiaOscura · 26/12/2018 18:49

Are these the fanny daggers?

I've been getting brief sharp pains in the pubic mound area. It's like towards the top of the pubes. They last for about 5 seconds and happen a few times a day. I'm 5 and a bit weeks pregnant. The pain stings quite a bit even though it doesn't last long. Have only had a MMC before so I don't know what is normal.

Cobblestones · 26/12/2018 19:07

Oh is that true for the first trimester as well? I thought that was relevant for later on when baby is big enough to push here and there

But I hope you’re right and it’s normal

I also get ‘fanny daggers’, not fun. The joys!

I had some horrible pains at 6 weeks which I had a scan and showed everything was fine, I'm 8 weeks now and have shooting pains down there very sharp feeling but I'm sure it's all normal ☺️
