Afternoon all!
So my DH and I have made the decision to come off the pill. Today is the last day of my 7 day pill break and I will not be starting a new pack tomorrow!! Exciting!
I'm just looking for advice really... any tips such as good tracking apps or personal experiences of coming off the pill / getting pregnant would be really helpful!
Thanks in advance!! X
Ps - we are looking to TTC over the next year or so, but trying to at least start off without "actively trying" and to just see what happens!

I just use a free period tracking app. Don’t forget to take folic acid and vitamin D.

It took 80ish days for my period to trying after I stopped the pill. Some people their periods return immediately! You won't know until it happens. So I didn't ovulate for 2 months. Also, if you want to, you can track your ovulation using OPK strips. Fertility friend is a good app.

New to this site, but made you me laugh, just thinking of how easy it was for me to have 3 children, after taking the pill, I think christmas time, just let your hair down, go with the flow, enjoy yourself, its such a relaxing time parties, family gatherings, just let nature take its course.
May I be the first to wish you the best of luck, but something tells me , you want need it. LOL. Best wishes for 2019.

I used a period tracking app but fell pregant within 8 weeks! Was thinking it would be at least 6-12 months! Lol

If you haven’t done so already, I’d start on prenatal vitamins. I used Ovia to track my cycle, but recommend not depending on its predictions for ovulation. I used clearblue dual hormone ovulation sticks. Your cycle may take a while to settle after coming off the pill. Or it may not.

Drink ALL the alcohol, eat pate and Brie, have lots of lay in and generally eat all the yummy food and be spontaneous while you still can.

Take folic acid, ideally for 12 weeks before conception. Best of luck!

I used clue to track my periods and I monitored my cervical mucus to establish whether I was ovulating.

I didn’t want to get caught up with OPKs because that felt too much like trying to me.

We got pregnant quite quickly (came off the pill in February, positive test in april)

Good luck, hope it doesn’t take too long for you :)

Similar for us - I came off the pill a couple of weeks ago and we're just seeing what happens. We're both 30 and decided that the timing wouldn't ever improve (work will always be busy, having your first child will always seem a bit overwhelming) so we decided to go for it. DH and I both see ourselves with children in the future so we're taking the plunge! No idea when/if I'm ovulating yet. Not sure if I want a BFP at the end of the month or if I want a few months of enjoying trying! (Obviously it could take a hell of a lot longer). What made you decide now was the 'right' time OP?

peaky297 · 23/12/2018 18:25

Congrats on taking the plunge too!
We have wanted kids for a while too, plus I have a couple.of friends who came.off the pill and took months to have a period and get back to normal etc... this gave us the nudge too. How have you found being off the pill?

One thing I must say though it's just enjoy it! Don't feel too pressured by apps, tracking etc, stress won't help in conceiving...

So in one way kinda know when the best time of month to do the deed but don't be strict by it :) and all the best the luck! Grin

SnowdropFox · 23/12/2018 18:49

My period came back pretty quickly but didn't conceive for nearly a year. My cycle was all over the place despite my period coming back so I think that may have had something to do with it.

Good luck OP, and have fun trying! Wink

We were the same, both turned 30 and thought now seemed to be a good time. I stopped taking the pill after 12 years beginning June and was pregnant in by the end of Aug, luckily for me my periods were fairly regular straight away, but I have heard stories about them taking longer to regulate. Defo the right idea to relax into it, I used the flow app to understand my fertile window and we dtd every other day around then. I think that it's genuinely all about timing and relaxing, wishing you all the best!

KatieKat88 · 23/12/2018 19:00

Not noticed anything different to normal yet but it's not been long. Hoping my periods don't come back with a vengeance - I've been on the pill for about 11-12 years but periods used to be heavy and fairly shit. Will be interesting to see what happens!
