God,

I suddenly feel horrendous today. I’m now lying in the dark on my body pillow crying :(

Symptoms are -

Nausea (tbf this has been on and off for a few days, I thought it had stopped at 12w)

Incredible lower back pain - just started today. Feels like my lower back is locked / frozen - struggling to walk.

Breathlessness - ok when lying down but if I so much as shuffle to the loo I become breathless. I’m
Not overweight / am normally fit an healthy.

I have a 12 mo who has started waking at 4am the last couple of weeks, so have been doing controlled crying in the early mornings for the last two days. She seems to be getting the message as did not fully wake (eg stand up and wail) at 4 this morning but did groan / stir from 4-5.30 which I was listening to on the monitor. I did go back to sleep from 6-7 then 10-11.30.

Maybe I’m just bloody shattered ?

Or maybe an upsurge in hormones ?

My DH is looking after DD on her own now (very very rare) and I feel so guilty just lying in bed Nd not interacting with her. Sad

I would call maternity triage with that.

Heartofglass21 · 23/12/2018 13:35

Call your midwife and ask for advice. The breathlessness is concerning.

physicskate · 23/12/2018 14:26

Any leg or chest pain??

I went to triage as I couldn't catch my breath for most of a day (even when resting). They didn't find anything but took me seriously, which was reassuring.

The back pain could be pelvic girdle pain. The 'locking up' feeling sounds very familiar to me! I'm now 29 weeks and on crutches to help a bit (but nothing has really helped much so far... except not moving.

How are your iron levels? I was really breathless and was anaemic.

Shriek · 23/12/2018 23:03

The bei g so depressed and crying is symptomatic of iron deficiency certainly.

I feel for you OP sounds horrible. I also thought possible bladder/kidney infection.

The breathlessness scarey though...but might be baby moving starting to press on lungs. Equally iron deficiency.

Get loads of iron into you, you might feel loads better.

Live on spinach for a few days at least along with something like raw carrot or oranges to assist absorption

Thanks all. Sorry for the late reply , yesterday was very hard. The breathlessness seems to have eased. I still
Have on/off nausea but not so bad today. Very lore back is AGONY and I’m having twinges in my anterior pelvis too. I had spd during first pregnancy but much later on.

I’ve found some stretches for the sacroiliac tendons , and have contacted a specialist chiropractor (not messing about with nhs physio like last time ).

Xx

Take a urine sample to your gp or out of hours. I've got a kidney infection. (20 weeks) and needed antibiotics and had exactly the same symptoms. It needs treating as soon as possible.

Shazafied · 24/12/2018 17:40

Just in maternity unit now , they think I’m anaemic and have done my back in. Just waiting for some test results now , thanks all x
