4d scan

Anyone had a 4d scan? If so when do you think the best time to go is. I'm 24 weeks on Christmas day 💙💙

I had one with my gender scan on Friday but baby was tiny and although beautiful to me, looked a bit alienish haha.

Sonographer said 30 weeks is a great time to go for a4d scan as their all chubby and cute by that point!

I had them at 27 and 32 weeks and the earlier one was better as apparently more fluid on the latter one distorted the image.

I had one last sat and today (im 24+5) both times she was facing away. Had to book a re-scan for the 5th of Jan. You're not guaranteed to see your baby at one

Just had one today, at 28 weeks. Could see baby’s features quite well, but she was moving a lot and covering her face too. Think you’re best waiting until 28-30 weeks.

The clinic where I had a private scan takes bookings between 24-30 weeks for 4D scan but their guidance is that 27 weeks is the preferable time to do it.

Thanks guys.. I'm thinking 26/27 weeks. My partners being it me as a Christmas present so we will book it in January 😊

I'd also advise don't book it towards the end of the "good period" (ie don't wait till 30 weeks plus). Reason why is that if the baby is in the wrong position or moving too much, you'll often get offered a free re-scan to try again. But you will be right at the bottom of the pile in terms of appointments and might have to wait several weeks. This just happened to us: we booked a scan for last Tuesday at 27 weeks but baby was in the wrong place so couldn't get good images. Can't get rescanned until the 2nd when baby will be 30 weeks ish and the larger a baby gets, the harder to get good 3d images.
