How to deal with Hemorrhoids without Anusol

I am 39 weeks pregnant with quite bad piles. They were a little uncomfortable so I got some Anusol but after applying I am now unbearably itchy! I can't use it again.

Do you have any home remedies for Hemorrhoids or reccommendations for things I can get on a Sunday? Obviously the doctors and pharmasists are unavailable for the next few days.

A midwife mentioned Vicks vapour rub to me - apparently it works a treat despite the sound of it making my eyes water.

I've not tried it myself though.

simplepimple ooh the idea of that does make me wince a bit but I'll certainly give it a go.

Witch hazel is amazing, far more effective than Anusol.

Preparation H is good for soothing and making things easier to pass. Epsom salts in the bath are also soothing. Ice packs are uncomfortable but effective in reducing a bit of swelling.

When you can get in to the gp uniroid cream is a lifesaver. It's part anaesthetic, part steroid cream.

If they are caused by constipation you need to get that sorted too. Hot water by the gallon and fresh fruit for a few days. My gp prescribed movicol which was painless and effective.
