Currently 29wks and have a cough. No cold, or any inkling of a cold. Just an annoying cough that I can’t shake. Had it for over a month, and feels like it’s getting worse, or my tolerance has about gone!

I’ve been relegated to the spare room as it’s annoying my husband so much. And I’ve had to resort to panty liners as I’m peeing myself pretty regularly. It’s getting me down.

Had thought it may be acid reflux, heartburn/indigestion related, but normal over the counter stuff isn’t helping if it’s that.

Anyone else?

They recommend seeing your gp if you've had a cough for more than three weeks.

I wondered if it was acid reflux connected and if it is I'd get medication from the GP. Over the counter stuff is shit

@physicskate - I did have a cold about 8wks ago and a lingering cough. So ad initially put it down to that. But well over the cold now.

@whatsnewchoochoo - have been having bad heartburn and indigestion for the past couple of weeks. Thursday night was so bad, that the acid what coming up in vomit and waking me. Was worried to fall asleep in case I choked, and had to snooze sitting up. Thankfully no repeat last night!

Yeah mine was awful too, I need omaprazole - nothing else worked

PineapplePrincess · 22/12/2018 23:25

@whatsnewchoochoo - my DS4 is on Omaprazole for ongoing acid reflux. Have been tempted to try one of his tablets to see if it has any effect, but should probably visit the GP first....

I had a really annoying thickly dry cough which I was sure was indigestion related, sure enough I asked the gp for ranitidine which he prescribed no bother. It certainly helps! They'll give you that over omeprazole I think X

*tickly! Grin

Spargle · 23/12/2018 00:36

Omaprazole is supposed to build up in the system - I think that it makes the stomach produce less acid. So a single tablet mightn’t have that much of an effect, while taking a prescribed course of them could be considerably more effective!

GabbyGal · 23/12/2018 09:18

You can get ranitidine over the counter (Zantac), it’s safe to take and really helps with reflux. You could try that and see if it helps the cough as well?

Michelle0507 · 23/12/2018 11:22

I've had a cough I can't shake off, had antibiotics and an inhaler then saw my actual GP who said reflux after going on Google as you do it seemed common.
