Induced with first baby - did you go naturally the second time?

I was 14 days overdue with my very lazy boy before I got induced, he was born 40+15 Eeeek. It was a long old slog and honestly a horrific Labour! I'm really hoping it's not as long and awful and just all together a shit time again! How many of you who were induced first time were induced second time too? I'd love to have the feeling of going into spontaneous labour x

I was 12 days over, he came after I had a sweep, well about 3 days after so didn't need induced. Was due to be I ducked at 8 o'clock on a Tuesday morning with my second but he decided to come the night before and was born exactly when I should have been getting induced, was a nice easy, quick labour compared to the first..

She to be induced not ducked 😂

Drogosnextwife · 20/12/2018 22:44

Annoyingly all of mine went over to the very last day that they would allow and so I have been induced all three times.

Babyno2mamabear · 20/12/2018 22:51

Oh interesting a mixed bag there. I just felt so drugged up and out of control I really hated it! I know there's no way of telling how it will go but you can dream Hey!

Induced the first time, 2 weeks early because of preclampsia, lots of monitors and the baby almost got pulled out as they were worried, and I lost a lot of blood.

Second time, overdue by 3/4 days, knew 24 hours before things started happening because I got a low level lower back ache, then time on the tens machine in front of the tv when labour started followed by a water birth in the midwife-led unit.

Oddly the first time was slightly shorter and I still have fond memories of the diamorphine they shouldn't have given me. But it was still possible for the second time to be totally different and go really well. Recovering second time was much easier.

Ps good luck - I hope everything is better this time round

@Babyno2mamabear your first is identical to mine! 15 days over, induced and born 48 hr after first pessery, long and horrendous!!
Fast forward to July gone, overdue with second baby, started to give up hope and prepared for induction again, at 40+5 I went into natural labour, be warned it was very very quick, good luck!!!

I've had 3 overdue babies. Number one was standard horrible inductions, with 3rd degree tear and just generally scary. Had epidural.

Dc2 was 10 days over born after my 3rd or 4th sweep.

Dc3 was induced at 42wks by my waters being broken, and it was short, and much easier.

So what I'm trying to say I guess is that once you've had an induction if you need another due to being overdue it can be a lot easier. My body was definitely ready with dc3 it just needed a push!

Thank you everyone :) this gives me a little hope that even if it happens again, it shouldn't be as horrible!! My labour was looooong and for what felt like forever they couldnt track his heartbeat 💔 had ventouse (sp?) to no avail and they prepped me for a c section, after bloody days of labour and being stuck st 9.5cm for SIX HOURS, then someone got in to theatre before me and so I had to then have him via forceps with them telling me honestly they didn't know how long it would take and if he was even ok. It was hugely stressful. Thankfully he was fine after about 5 minutes, I think he was just even more exhausted than me. I was also continually sick through the whole process, on a hormone drip, epidural and 2 saline drips for dehydration and I wasn't allowed to stand up or move. It was just crap and I just don't want it again. 20 weeks to go but freaking myself out already, so it's lovely to hear that lots of your labours did get better xx

Watching with interest as I was induced due to being overdue with my first and I'm now 38 weeks + 3 days. I'm quite happy to go over again (I'm not ready yet!) but I'd rather avoid an induction this time round.

If it makes you feel better my induction wasn't that bad (although certainly not enjoyable at the time). I only required 2 pessaries and gave birth less than 24 hours after the first one was given with no instruments required. So if you are induced again it doesn't necessarily mean it will be as horrible as before.
