Hospital bag- I think I'm going to need a trailer.....

Wow- just putting together my hospital bag and it looks like I'm going to need a trailer to carry it all!! I haven't even got that much in it! Looks like I need to get a new bag!

what have you got in it? maybe we could make it smaller

OK- I have:

• Some snacks and drink (a bottle of squash to add to the hospital water)
• Money for carpark
• Camera
• Ipod
• Book
• Labour nighty
• Toiletries (shower gel, shampoo etc)
• Dressing gown (thin, cotton one)
• Flip flops
• Breast pads
• Towel
• Knickers
• Maternity Pads
• Clothes for going home (well a clean Tshirt and undies- will hopefully be able to wear my trousers I go in in!)

Thats it!

nappies, baby clothes etc too

pack spare trousers! i thought this, and my waters broke over mine! i went home in a tshirt that didnt cover my bits and some knickers!

apart from that, its fine. get a bigger bag!

Sorry, can only think of things to add to your list:

Nightie for after labour
baby clothes
nappies
cotton wool for washing babies bottom at nappy changes

I would however dispense with the book unlkess you are going to be in for a while before the birth of after if having c section. In either case you could ask partner/friend to bring your chosen book in for you. You couyld also put your going home clothes in another bag and ask your other half to bring them into hospital after the birth (if you feel you can rely on them to find them/ remember etc etc).

I found paper knickers were very useful after birth and for the 1st couple of days at home.

I mean baby's bottom. You won't be expected to clean lots of babies bottoms. (Lynn Truss alert)

I took 2 bags.

One for myself and then I used the changing bag to pack the babies things.

So nappies, babygros, little cotton hats.
Didnt bother with wipes or smellys as most hospitals tell you not to bother.
You'll need cotton wool rolls though.

Oh- thats not including the babies bag... got a separate one for that!

Yep- forgot to put I had nighty for after labour in there.

Good plan about putting going home clothes in a separate bag.

I also took my own pillow. And my own swaddling blanket for the baby.

About the only thing I didn't take was the birthing ball, as I couldn't carry it!

My local hostpital advises not to take expensive cameras, just disposiables.
