Overdue and still no signs of labour (2nd baby)

I’m 40+1 today and with Christmas just a few days away I’m getting really fed up with waiting for this little man/lady to arrive!
My first was 3 weeks early so I just assumed I’d have another early one. One day past my due date and absolutely no signs apart from being very achy down there and having more mucus/discharge (but not lost my plug yet).

I’ve tried walking, rotating on my birthing ball, clary sage oil, raspberry leaf tea, fresh pineapple, spicy food, literally every old wives tale going!

Has anyone else got any tips on helping to naturally induce labour? Or anyone been much later having had an early baby before?

I really don’t want to be induced if I can help it

This was me in July with my second! My first was two weeks late and I really didn’t want another induction. I walked and walked and walked (easier in July mind) it didn’t start labour but definitely helped push down. I went into natural labour at 40+5, now you will think I’m off my rocker but that day myself and friend visited another friend who has just had her baby, we were there a few hours, I held him and jokingly said “I’m going to sniff his head to see if it kicks me off” I started contracting in the way home,
Go sniff some babies ( ask first though!)
I know it’s a load of old cobblers really, but a funny coincidence. Good luck! Could well be a Xmas baby x

@Lymphy that’s such a good idea!! I have a few friends with newborns so I’ll get sniffing and see if that gives my hormones the kick start for my contractions 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Haha!

Well after visiting a friend with a newborn, having a Chinese takeaway (which I’ve heard a few times has worked for others), lots of raspberry leaf tea, pressing acupressure points, using clary sage oil in the diffuser and bouncing on the birthing ball yesterday I’m finally starting to get somewhere!
Just started to lose my mucus plug which i lost 24hours before my waters broke with DD.

Here’s hoping this baby arrives before my next midwife appointment on Sunday 🤞🏻

If you're only one day over your due date you're not really overdue. Don't even think of induction yet or let anyone talk you into it.

I have a sneaky feeling you will be getting an extra Christmas present!

Do let us know.

Fingers crossed @jessstan2 !
I’m 40+3 today and midwife appt is booked for when I’m 40+5 so they wanted to book me in for induction or c section for the following week as they’ve advised not going over 42 weeks for risks of stillbirth. Induction or c section is the last thing I want so fingers crossed this is it now!
Been having very mild contractions every 10mins for the last hour so here’s hoping baby will come today/tomorrow. Yay!!

My little girl finally arrived after a 36 hour labour yesterday afternoon...ended up being an emergency home birth having been sent home for the labour not progressing just 3 hours before!
I had contractions on and off but all over the place for 35 hours to only get to 3cm dilated. Waters broke at 3.20pm and she arrived within an hour 😍
