Gua Sha (scraping) in pregnancy

Hi all, a bit of advice please.

I am 8 and a half weeks pregnant and have chronic back pain. I've just started to have acupuncture which seems to be working so far. Today she came, and did some scraping on my back, or Gua Sha. Now I've googled it and I'm panicking that it is going to cause me to miscarry. Does anybody know anything about this? She scraped from upper back to lower back, mainly on the sides, a little on the spine but not low down. She is aware I am pregnant and said 'I have to be very careful with you because it can cause miscarriage 😫

Did she not tell you before the treatment that there was a risk of miscarriage? That seems very irresponsible of her.

I don’t know anything about this treatment I’m afraid so can’t help there, but it’s done now so I guess either try not to worry or contact your GP/midwife for advice?

I don’t know about the specific therapy you mention but it is not wise to let people who are not medically trained perform “alternative” procedures on you. Speak to your midwife.

Sorry, I think I was having a bit of a panic. She is a qualified acupuncturist, she said she wouldn't do cupping on a pregnant woman and that she had to be careful with what she did on me. Thanks for your replies, I've put my rational head on now. All she did was a sort of deep tissue massage on my back, using a jade stone.
