Extremely Painful Nipples

So I'm 22 wks pregnant, and so far so good. Despite the pain I feel with a fractured pubic bone and a bad back - I'm feeling good!

Though one thing that's bothering me are my nipples. It's nearly Christmas time when I post this, so naturally it's freezing! Whenever I do feel a tiny bit of chill, here comes the agony. I try to stay as warm as possible, but if my nipples erect from the cold, they are extremely painful.

I have dry and cracked skin, which I've been keeping on top of with lotions and medicated cream. But if they rise even a minuscule amount I'm in enough pain to drive me to tears for at least half an hour.

Anyone else have sensitive breasts like this? How did you deal with it?

You're a few weeks ahead of me so no experience of this but I winced as i read this. Hope you get something to relieve the pain soon as it sounds horrible

I had this with my second! It was horrible. I fashioned little nipple nests with soft gauze and a breast pad and used that to keep them warm. It really worked but thank god I was never in a road accident or something Grin

Yes mine, when cold, feel like a hundred little needles are being poked into them (I'm 33 weeks)

Iv breastfed 3 babies and will be this one.. it does go after birth.

If it's that bad for you, try stuffing your bra with "hot hands" you can't find them in boots

Had this with my first (not yet this time (17weeks)). You just have to keep warm! I wore so many layers, padded my bra as mentioned above. And don’t walk into a cold wind!

Lasted the whole pregnancy (at least, the whole winter) but totally fine after!

Try putting breast pads in your bed.

Bra not bed!

I had this too, I think it's called nipple vasospasm. Only ever had it when I was pregnant. I used to stuff hot water bottles or those microwaveable wheat bags down my top, or failing that, press my cup of coffee close. Anything I could find that was warm would eventually ease the pain.

Bit late, but I put your advice to the test and it's been much more manageable. I thought 3 layers would be enough, but my partner bought me a water bottle to have under my jacket (but over my top) and it's been bliss! I pad out my bra with a scrap of soft fleece I had in my crafts drawer and now I may never go back to a normal bra next winter.
Thank you all!
