Early scan - empty sac

I had a scan last week due to some light spotting and cramping. I should have been 7+4 based on last period but I know I ovulated later than 14 days, the scan showed an gestational sac and a yolk sac, which looked like a little polo in the sac, and the pregnancy was measuring 5 weeks. I’m devastated. I’m instantly assuming the worst, but trying to hold on to some hope, for example I have a tilted uterus and it was an abdominal scan, could they have not got a good enough view?? I had a missed miscarriage in June and the exact same thing happened then so I have little to no faith with my follow up scan. Has anyone else gone through this and received good news?xx

No experience to share as my earliest scan was 7 weeks (and the embryo was tiny!), so 5 weeks can be too early to detect an embryo on the scan. It's common to only see the gestational sac and yolk sac at that stage. Don't lose hope OP. Are you still experiencing spotting? I spotted at 6 weeks with DS and everything was fine. As you ovulated later your dates may be out, so although you thought you were 7 weeks, 5 weeks may actually be more accurate. When is your follow up scan OP? All the best.

Thanks for the reply. I have been spotting since the scan, but nothing heavy. I'm due my follow up scan on Thursday this week. I'm so nervous xx
