I did, at 36 weeks. I was booked in about 7pm ISH and had the induction maybe 30/60 minutes later, went for a walk for an hour and then back to the ward. Was moved to the labour ward at 3/4am ISH. Had my waters broken at about 3pm and baby was out by 5:30pm.

Hope it goes smoothly for you. Walking and stairs were recommended for me, and I'm sure they got things going!

I was induced at 37 weeks for the same reason. Had a pessary at 12.30 lunchtime. Walked miles around the hospital and contractions started at around 8.30pm. I gave birth the following day at 2.41pm, so was a long winded one for me! I hate the idea of being induced, seems to take longer cause baby isn't ready to leave yet! Good luck for today, I hope it all goes well.

Random one. What medical reasons would it be? First baby here.

Liverbird77 · 17/12/2018 12:09

In my case it is because of my age (41). There is an increased risk if stillbirth if you go overdue. Also, my baby has suddenly jumped from 60th to 95th centile, so they are bringing it forward by a few days.

I am hoping it happens naturally before, but what will be will be.

38+1 with ds2 had it inserted around 1pm, contractions started around 2-2/30pm and I gave birth around 3 and a half hours later. It was really intense only had chance for gas and air but glad it didn't go on for days, best of luck Xmas Smile

Had one for reduced movements.

First pessary went in abouuut 2pm on a Wednesday. Walked miles and mild contractions started. That night they got bad but by 4am they went away to nothing. Second pessary in the next day about 8am. Nothing. Not a twitch. Third day (and final chance) the pessary went in the morning again I think and they said to give it the best chance possible we won't check if your waters are ready until this evening (if this didn't work I'd have needed a c section and really didn't want it). Walked miles that day, bounced on ball, had a bath. About 5pm the midwife checked and said she could just feel my waters and they could break them. Was wheeled down about 10 mins later. Had my waters broken which I was scared of but it didn't hurt at about 6pm as they set me up to a drip before, showed me how to use the gas and air etc. Contractions started pretty instantaneously. The gas worked miracles. I was in active labour for 8.5 hours (with a lovely failed epidural) and had an episiotomy (which didn't hurt as they injected before). After DD was born my uterus didn't contract back down and I kept bleeding and had blood clots they had to remove from my stomach in the room I'd given birth in. That hurt. I was allowed gas and air though. The bleeding stopped and I felt ill. However, the bleeding wasn't related to being induced so that isn't likely to happen because you're being induced. Best of luck and remember that no matter what happens, you're going to have a baby very soon Smile

Thanks ladies. I hope all goes well. I ask as I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead so Wondering if I'll have the same 🤔

user1471433387 · 17/12/2018 18:11

I was completely undilated and a sweep couldn't be performed as my cervix wasn't ready or something.

I was induced at 41 weeks and 5 days. 1st pessary at 12 pm - nothing. 2nd pessary about 4 hours later and I started having contractions quite shortly afterwards. I gave birth the following day at 8:30, so the whole thing took less than 24 hours.

Good luck!

Mummytooscarleo · 17/12/2018 18:14

Propess went in at 17:55 🙈 very nervous!!!

I had one age 42 at 40 weeks due to my age but no other issues. It took 24 hours, I went through the whole process, pessaries, rupture of membranes and drip. They literally had to force him out.
My last baby was going to be induced at age 44, due to age and unstable lie, but I only agreed to rupture if membranes to start labour, no drip or pessaries. However, my baby changed position again so I had a section. Good luck.

Bigonesmallone3 · 17/12/2018 18:20

Pessary did nothing for me on second baby at 38 weeks

ElusiveButterfly · 17/12/2018 18:28

@Bigonesmallone3 so what did they do instead?

Bigonesmallone3 · 17/12/2018 18:35

I had 2 rounds of gel, mild contractions that didn't lead to anything.. tried to pop waters, couldn't
Another round of gel, after 6 hours they tried to pop waters again.. success..
9 hours later.. baby girl..

Mummytooscarleo · 17/12/2018 20:38

I was induced at 36 weeks due to suffering with PROM (premature rupture of membrane). Was induced with a pessary on the Thursday morning and gave birth 12:20pm the Saturday. Had to go on a drip to speed things up

My lb was too comfy and didn't want to come out. A girl next to me had the same at the exact same time and went into labour immediately!!!! Think it's all down to your body! Good luck!!
