Anyone got any tips on maternity clothes? I'm only 13 weeks but so bloated I think I need some 🙈 I've bought some leggings but that's about it ! I don't want to spend a fortune but obviously I'll need some key bits!

I bought yoga pants and jeans from Mothercare, and then bought a few extra, nominally the same size and style, from eBay. I’ve also been gradually expanding my top collection, also from eBay. There are some clothes going very cheap on there, and my wardrobe has expanded very nicely.

I’ve not had much luck with jumpers and coats, though. I’m going to have to buy new.

I have found that two of my existing dresses, and a few of my posh tops, will be big enough for my (unfortunately bigger than expected) bump over Christmas, so that’s the party season sorted! (Obviously I will be partying So Hard, what with the not drinking alcohol and all that.) So I’d recommend you have a look and see what you have which will keep you going for a bit, in the top department. But I’m definitely mostly either wearing maternity tops, or borrowing my husband’s logo t-shirts if I’m working (which might not be your situation!). I’m desperate for a fleece, though. Mine still zips if asked nicely, but it’s a stretch!

Over bump and under bump leggings will be your saviour. I’m not a “leggings are trousers” kind of girl usually, but the last 2 weeks of pregnancy and now I’m postpartum that’s what they’ve become!

I bought over bump jeans, but these were better when I was bigger because some of the belly bits were far too loose (even at 9 months!)

Buy some nice tops that will make you feel good. I wasn’t a clingy top person before pregnancy because I always had a belly anyway. During pregnancy I bought quite a few stretchy tops so that I could show off my bump :)

A couple of dresses are always handy (wrap dresses are flattering) and boohoo have some maternity Xmas jumpers if you’re that way inclined ;)

I'd second eBay - some real bargains to be had and a lot of stuff is either new or barely worn.

I've had more success online that buying from stores, ASOS and Boohoo both have maternity ranges which include some fairly affordable options. Happy shopping and congrats! Smile

I think new look do good cheap dresses, I like stretchy wrap style as they are more flattering and you don’t look like a tent. I don’t find the maternity jeans super comfortable now I’m in 3rd trimester but I liked them at the beginning. Long vests from H&M are good, I have a nice fitted jumper from gap which I wear a lot. Mostly
Maternity clothes are online so you have to get good at selecting styles without trying them on

ASDA black skinny over the bump jeans are great

One other tip - if you think you may breastfeed, look for maternity/nursing clothes as you may be able to get more use out of these once your baby arrives.

Thanks ladies! I'll have a good look online today 😁😁😁

ASOS are fantastic! New look too.

Gap maternity tops are lovely.

Avoid next, I bought 2 maternity T-shirts from there and they are hideous. Washed badly and are like giant sacks.

Eeeeek2 · 17/12/2018 08:18

ASDA leggings 2 for £12 were good
