Hi guys, I actually feel so silly writing this but I’m 7+1 pregnant but since 6 weeks I feel like I’ve been showing. Normally I wake up in the morning with flat stomach but since being pregnant my stomach feels hard and big and I can’t bear any pressure on it (my kitten walks across me in the night he’s only 4 months and I have to push him away) is it possible to show so early or is it water etc? I’ve attached a picture from a couple of days ago.

Thanks xx

It will be bloating with the increase of pregnancy hormones and should ease off maybe in 4 or 5 weeks then the real bump will kick in!!

Lindsayowens92 · 16/12/2018 21:32

Thanks! It’s crazy it’s so hard and just feel huge! I assumed it was all water

I'm currently pregnant with my third, a lot of bloating to begin with, settled down by about 9/10 weeks..
I'm at 13 weeks now and have a little bump..

TerriB84 · 16/12/2018 22:08

I’m also 7+1 today! This is my 2nd and I already have a small bump. It’s def not just bloating as it is firm on top. Mind you I was expecting to show early as they say you show sooner in subsequent pregnancies and with my first I had a noticeable bump before 12 weeks (multiple people had suspected I was pregnant before we told them after the scan).

TokenGinger · 16/12/2018 22:11

Baby is currently the size of a raspberry so it's definitely not that you're showing that much. Between 6-10 weeks, I had such terrible trapped wind which caused bad bloating but it has gone down now. X

Littleraindrop15 · 16/12/2018 22:14

Oh my god i am so jel! Im 22 weeks and show a little less than you.

Nobody can tell im even pregnant whereas my friends all have a bump

Fatted · 16/12/2018 22:18

I definitely started filling out with my first early. I wasn't 'showing' as such, but I was definitely wider around the waist, despite not putting any weight on. I was in maternity jeans by my 12 week scan. Although saying that, I was also put forward a few weeks at the scan!

With my second, I was showing early, but my stomach never recovered from my first!

TakingtheLeap · 16/12/2018 22:20

Hi Linda! Congratulations on your pregnancy. Grin I'm now 13 weeks and was just like you at 7! I hated any pressure on my stomach at all. My weight also peaked and then went back down so I think it was definitely water retention! Looking at pictures my bump now is about the same size as it was preceding weeks but I don't feel as horribly bloated and can feel my uterus (a hard little ball) above my pubic bone.

That said, when I googled about this myself a few weeks ago I found that people were oddly snooty almost about saying "it's just bloating" and "it's not a REAL bump". The way I see it, your stomach wouldn't be sticking out like that if you weren't pregnant, so I don't know how it can be anything other than a 'real' pregnancy bump!

BeardofZeus · 16/12/2018 22:20

My friend had the same... got a surprise at her 12 week scan - TWINS!

PBobs · 17/12/2018 00:33

I was the same. Good old pregnancy bloat. Now I have a very very slight bump at almost 15 weeks but look less pregnant than I did before.

Spargle · 17/12/2018 07:23

I’ve very much had the “do not put any pressure on the abdomen!” thing going on. At 12 weeks it got a lot better, but sometimes even now, at nearly 14 weeks, the pressure of a t-shirt is too much and I have to expose my belly, in all its glory, to whoever happens to be in the room with me. Très sophisticated.

This all started for me at 6 weeks, and it was dreadful. I would recommend going out and buying some under bump maternity trousers (and being prepared to buy braces to hold them up! Or maybe not feeling really sick while buying them, so you have the patience to try on other sizes! The jeans have not worked for me, but the yoga pants are very good and stay up without extra help. I went to Mothercare because it’s the first shop I came across with maternity clothes and I wasn’t spending a moment longer than necessary shopping). I’ve been in them since 6 weeks, which felt a little ridiculous, but at least I’ll get my money’s worth!

Now I’m nearly 14 weeks and my bump is enormous. It’s mostly fat, but the bloating comes back easily (I’m biggest before bed, and it’s less ridiculous in the morning), and the baby is definitely causing a bit of the bump! I mean, the baby has been causing most of the bump the whole time, but I think I can now feel my uterus, which is very exciting!

TokenGinger · 17/12/2018 08:53

@TakingtheLeap I completely get your point that unless you were pregnant, it wouldn't be like that. However, what people mean is, it's not the size of the baby causing the bump when baby is only the size of a raspberry at that stage.

CountessVonBoobs · 17/12/2018 08:56

Your baby's barely visible to the naked eye at this point. It's bloat.

Lindsayowens92 · 17/12/2018 09:05

@tokenginger @countessvonboobs I’ve read that even though the baby is tiny it’s your uterus that shows as it’s expanding and everything is moving so doesn’t matter how big the baby is

explodingkitten · 17/12/2018 10:32

Your uturus is only twice as big now. It's bloat. But it is caused by your pregnancy. Congratulations Cake

mommysharkdodo · 17/12/2018 10:35

I was like this too at 7 weeks! Now almost 20 weeks and still the same size lol x

CountessVonBoobs · 17/12/2018 10:39

Your uterus is still completely contained by your pelvis at this stage so it can't really "show". It doesn't rise above the top of your pelvis until after 12 weeks.

gimmeadoughnut123 · 17/12/2018 11:50

It will be bloating. I was like it for ages. I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and am now showing. Can also feel baby, although a lot of people don't believe me.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 17/12/2018 12:03

Yes, I had a small bump by 10 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now and measuring big. It's not ridiculous that you've got one at 7 weeks. Especially since it looks like your belly was flattish before.

It's mostly not baby, sure, but pregnancy - water, bloat, and uterus "space" ready for them to grow into.

Congratulations!

Triskaidekaphilia · 17/12/2018 23:42

This was me on Friday at 7+3, first pregnancy. I did wonder about twins but it's gone down a bit over the weekend so probably gas/water. Think its the combination of bigger appetite, mainly wanting carbs, and that I already had quite a curved spine.

Extremecloseup · 17/12/2018 23:51

Could your dates be off? I miscalculated a pregnancy due to odd periods, and my surprise at the 12 week scan was that I was actually half way through! Just a thought.

halfwitpicker · 17/12/2018 23:56

Yeah man that looks about right. It's your uterus revving up to house the little un!

Congratulations x

PeachMelba78 · 18/12/2018 05:17

I was in maternity clothes from 7 weeks, now 35 weeks and I can’t actually fit into some of those! He’s a big baby and likes to push out, some of us show early so don’t worry!
