Im suffering from really bad headaches every day what do other pregnant women do to help this? I literally get them as soon as I wake up till I go to bed :(

Have you told your midwife? Severe headaches can be a sign of pre-eclampsia so should always be checked out in pregnancy!

alsoliviax · 16/12/2018 17:30

oh no I definitely will call the doctors tomorrow I thought pre-eclampsia could only happen in the third trimester I was told! I'm only entering my second trimester

I've had a constant headache now for 2 weeks been to the doctors and been given codeine to try and help as nothing else is shifting them , I'm only 17 weeks as well

minniecat2406 · 16/12/2018 17:45

I had this from about 5 weeks but disappeared pretty much overnight from about 14. Just keep topping up paracetamol! X

Celebelly · 16/12/2018 18:00

I had horrid headaches round about the 16 week mark. Weirdly caffeine helped a lot for me - a can of Coke really helped when paracetamol wasn't touching it. My midwife said headaches are quite common around that time.

BIWI · 16/12/2018 18:02

Yep, I had this in both pregnancies. Worst the first time around as they were migraines.

Obviously check it out with your midwife, but otherwise, you can take paracetamol (or at least you could 20+ years ago, unless that guideline has changed along with everything else in pregnancy these days Hmm!), but with. migraine headaches it's important to take them at the first sign of any pain.

Sorry for you - it really sucks.

I was literally about to write the same post! I’m nearly 15 weeks so guessing around the same as you... terrible isn’t it. So I’m guessing this is definitely a pregnancy thing then? I was going to get my eyes tested next week as I was thinking maybe I need glasses or something?! Xx

Sweepington · 16/12/2018 18:13

I had horrendous ones, the only thing that would help is sleeping

endofthelinefinally · 16/12/2018 18:13

Definitely get BP checked asap and an eye test is worth doing as pregnancy does affect your eyes in that the shape of the eye ball can change and alter vision, resulting in eye strain.

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 16/12/2018 18:17

Oh yes, constant headaches. Had the same in my first pregnancy too, though they seem a bit less severe this time. The GP prescribed me codeine last time but I didn’t take it, I figured it’s a hormonal headache and not worth taking such strong painkillers when you don’t know the effect it might have on the baby. Lots of water and rest! It will pass... in about 15 weeks ConfusedGrin

i find the Kool N Soothe blue gel patches helpful with headaches. They are non medicinal.

Courtneybrown · 16/12/2018 21:19

Deffo pregnancy mines stopped with every pregnancy around 22 weeks and got them back at 25 weeks 26 weeks on forth pregnancy and still got them I'll let you know when they dissapear lol xx

Courtneybrown · 16/12/2018 21:21

I was given codeine first pregnancy never took anything with 2nd or third and haven't this time either rather just grin and bare it as my codeine knocked me for six and i didn't like that out of it feeling. Xx

ness77 · 16/12/2018 22:13

I’ve been getting horrible ones since I started my second trimester. Got thoroughly checked out and it really is just down to hormones. Was prescribed codeine too but i’m sticking to paracetamol when it gets too much. Fingers crossed they go away sooner rather than later for us all and we get to enjoy the “easiest” part of pregnancy people talk about!

Angelmiracle · 16/12/2018 22:45

Mine stopped after I got into 2nd trimester around 18/19 weeks. Didn't have them in first pregnancy hope they don't last for you. I agree with PP some caffeine helped a little.

alsoliviax · 16/12/2018 23:30

I had HORRENDOUS headaches with my first. Same as a PP I use to send out OH to get me some coke and that helped. Must be the caffeine or something? Flowers
