First trimester exhaustion. How to power through?

I'm just really struggling through the first trimester, very sick and constantly exhausted. Missing so much work. Trying to just get on with it but have zero energy. How do you sort of push through this?

Embrace it and rest when you can.

Take naps when you can and look after yourself. You’re doing an amazing thing growing a human.

To push through any of it, you need to take rest whenever you can. If you need to miss some work, that’s just how it is right now. I bet that any work you are doing involves powering through.

It will get better. Just look after yourself right now, and don’t worry about the rest!

Just keep going, hopefully it'll pass for you. Just rest when you can and wind in a good luck to anything that doesn't actually need to be done. I remember sitting at work for 8 hours and actually not doing a single thing 🤦🏽‍♀️

If you find you can't power through then don't be afraid to be signed off by your gp. I fought it for weeks and eventually couldn't cope any more so gave in. A few times I nearly fell asleep while driving home so I decided enough was enough. Best decision I made! Went back at 13 weeks and was far more productive and felt less guilty being off work for fixed period than being in and out all the time abd being unreliable.

Oh and also just want to reassure you that it does get better so hang on in there! I was able to work again at 13 weeks and feeling more or less back to my usual self by 16 weeks. Now 39 weeks and tired but nothing like as bad as the crippling exhaustion of the 1st trimester! Smile

God the first trimester for me was HARD.. I had hyperemesis so needed meds so I completely understand why you feel exhausted when your being sick. If the sickness isn't subsiding and you're really struggling, get an appointment with your doctor and ask for some anti sickness tablets. There's no harm in them & they really did help me. good luck

Sleep sleep sleep. Any spare time use to sleep.

Rest whenever you can and eat whatever you can stomach (even if it's not particularly healthy as it'll give you some energy)

The first trimester was pretty awful for me, one big mix of emotions, tiredness and sickness. My advice rest and sleep whenever your able to, powering through is all well and good but rest is so important. If it means going to bed at 6pm every night then so be it. The second trimester is much better but I’m afraid the exhaustion comes back in the third. Good luck!
