hi i am booked in for my elective cs a week on friday, but can't get excited about it as i have these awful thoughts something is going to go wrong! this is my 3rd baby with a nine year gap, i just can't see myself with a new baby. I wish i could turn off my mind as its really upsetting me and getting me down, as anyone else had this? or do you think i need to go see someone?

You're anxieties sound extremely normal and to be expected to me. Any friends you can chat to.

fryalot · 25/06/2007 16:29

check out my profile

you will see I have a 10 year age gap between dd1 and dd2.

ds was an ecs.

I totally understand your worries - it just doesn't seem real, does it?

If you would feel happier going to see someone, then of course, go.... but my advice would be to try and put it out of your mind (easy for me to say, I know) and try not to worry (again, easy for me to say)

When your little one is born safely (as I am sure he/she will be) it will all click into place and you will wonder why you ever felt like this.

I thought I had forgotten everything about having a baby, but when it came down to it, it all came flooding back and it turned out I hadn't actually forgotten it after all!

Good luck

I remember very clearly indeed, at about the same stage with ds as I am now with dc2 (28 weeks), thinking, very seriously, 'sh*t, is it too late to not go through with this?'

All the best for your CS.

fryalot · 25/06/2007 16:42

jenjingles - you'll be absolutely fine, I promise. It probably is hormones, but whether it is or not, it is perfectly natural and normal, please try not to worry too much.

beansprout · 25/06/2007 16:50

Sounds entirely normal to me. Hope it goes well.

I'm 20 weeks with my second child and can't get to grips with the fact that I am pregnant and going to have another little life to look after. The whole thing seems quite bizarre. For me, I put it down to being an only child and used to only thinking about one of everything, but to think that there is another baby in my tummy just seems weird. Just going to go with the flow, I also had a pretty bad time of it with SPD and still have problems 2 years on from my DS. I am also having an elective CS because of my probs with pelvis, but my health visitor has been great, she told me to tell them I want my baby on my chest straight away, and for my hubby to cut the cord. I had to have an emergency cs with my DS, and didn't get to hold him for almost an hour.

lulumamasmentee · 25/06/2007 19:21

jenjingels, i'm feeling the same too, I'm not having a cs but just can't get my head around the fact that there is going to be another baby coming (i'm 33wks at the moment ) but i'm sure it is just hormones/normal etc.

I bet you look back and laugh when your baby gets here, good luck

jenjingles · 25/06/2007 19:31

Hi jenjingles.

I think your feelings are normal. I haven't read all the other replies yet.

I am also expecting my 3rd baby, my youngest is 8. Like you, there are times I just can't imagine myself with a baby again!

IMO you are probably feeling quite anxious about the CS this Friday. It takes some getting your head round knowing exactly when you are going to meet your baby... I remember feeling like that when I was booked to be induced with DS2.

Also, I remember having a mild panic at the idea of having another baby when I was at the end of my 2nd pregnancy!!

Wishing you all the very best for Friday.
