i have an 11 month old son already and currently pregant woth 2nd baby im 12 weeks currently.
long story short when my son was 5.5 months old i took him to out of hours due to a mark on his leg and wasnt aware what was from he was currently rolling over at that time. i was told i was getting ss rung and an assessemt was carried out as i couldnt give reason for mark as i didnt know myself and didnt want to lie. i had a sw imvolved for 2 months investigating me and my partner and my mum came to stay to 'supervise' us until they knew outcome. basically in the end no further action was taken but they explained they had to run all medical tests and have multi agency meetings to see what was best next step. but i had a letter saying thankyou for completeing assessment and if i need any support to get in contact but as of now case is closed.
at my 12 week scan midwife asked about that incident with ss so i was honest explained and also ensured her case was closed and i have letter but she was saying she will have to contact my old sw to confirm etc.
since then i have been so anxious not that i have anything to hide i just remember the horrible experience with them and me trying to prove myself constantky until investigation was over. is this normal to double check? & will social worker become involved with pregnancy although case is closed?
i have spoken fo hv and she reassured me to take my letter to put in folder and that it is dead in the water but i just have suh trust issues since..
any advice or similar stories would be grateful!
thankyouSmile

Don’t worry OP its absolutely normal for the midwife to double check. If the case was closed with no further action it won’t go any further, she's just going her job. I’m sorry you had such a tough time last time Flowers

yeah have a letter to confirm case closed etc, i just panicked because honestly they ruined my life for 2 months acting as if i was a risk to my son it was sickening and made all those emotions rush back! i just want a stress free independent pregnancy with partner and close family.
i just needed reassurance the hv reassured me it was fine i even phoned old sw to tell her to expect phone call etc and she said unless there is anything new then they wouldnt but i just have bad trust issues with them now. i know im a good mum and wouldnt cause any harm what so ever to my child just wish it never happened honestly has scared me for life.
thankyou for your reply Grin

Please don't worry.
It's totally routine to have any social work involvement checked. Remember that a lot of social work involvement isn't due to neglect, it's for other reasons (for example-adoption). The midwife will check and just be told the case has been closed.
