Hi

I'm 6 weeks with my second and haven't seen doc or midwife yet. Shortly after my first pregnancy (4 yrs ago) I was told that they'd reduced the number of scans appointments we had during pregnancy; but reading through messages I see lots of people seem to have 7/8 week scans?? I wasn't expecting anyone to do anything til 12 weeks? Will I be getting to see my little kidney bean sooner??

I do have docs appointment weds but the thought of having a scan earlier is too exciting and can't wait until then!!

They are normally the exception , ie if you have a problem such as bleeding or pain, rather than the rule. Most areas still do 12 and 20 weeks or 16/18 week scan afaik.

11- 13 weeks a nuchal scan (if they do that in your area)

20 - 23 weeks an abnormality scan

a 7/8 week scan is IME only if you have concerns (and its an internal one anyway

Usually, if you are sure of dates, there is the 12 week dating scan, and usually a booking in appointment with the midwife at the same time.

I then saw my MW at 16 weeks, will have my scan at 20 weeks, and see the MW again at 25 weeks.

After that it is 28 weeks, 32 weeks, 34 weeks, 36 weeks and then weekly. But i may be lucky as i have a comunity midwife and is the same one i had with DD2
