When to start buying?!

I’m 14 weeks and haven’t purchased anything yet, I still feel like it’s too early to start?! But then with Boxing Day sales coming up I’m thinking it’s a good chance to maybe pick up a pram/furniture etc.

Thoughts..? Would it be too soon..?

I had this same discussion with DP. We are 15 weeks. We agreed that if we see the pram we want on sale, we'll get it. I don't think we'll bother with a cot until baby is a few months old as he'll be in with us in his Moses basket so furniture wise, we have nothing to buy. Just the pram is our big purchase.

If I see any clothes on a good offer too, I'll pick up but I'm not going to go mad. I'm still terrified something will go wrong.

My opinion is if you see something you want, it's on offer- buy it.

Nothing bad is going to happen because you bought a baby grow.. if god forbid something does happen - it was going to happen regardless of the baby grow!

Iv brought bits here n there - I'm now 33 weeks, all set and haven't had to go do a big shop and because Iv done little n often over 33 weeks the cost has been spread over and far more manageable.

This is my 4 baby xx

I'm 28 weeks and only started really buying at 20 weeks but had been looking for months. People do start much sooner. If you see bits here and there you like just go for it (especially when the sales come!).

We are moving house next week so was holding off buying bulky things like nursery furniture till after the move. Personally I wouldn't have pram, cot etc up until much closer to due date but everyone is different.

I bought the pram at 16 weeks as it was on offer and I wanted neutral to do all children anyway. The shop kept it until 6 weeks before baby was due and you paid it just before delivery so it made no difference if something did happen they refunded the deposit anyway.

My advice is buy stuff! It might feel like the days are dragging, and you have ages left..but the time will fly by!!

Agree with buying some stuff . The money you save you can put towards your time off on maternity and also time passes much quicker than you think .

I am glad I staggered out buying things because it does mount up and we have had generous gifts from family on some of the big things such as a pram , car seat etc .

Also I started pregnancy yoga at the stage you are at and that was really useful for me as a first time mum.

I started buying early on with my first and it was mainly all second hand stuff. So if an anything had happened, I'd have spent a relatively small some of money. I used gumtree and facebook selling pages, and saved a tonne of money. Then, nearer the time, I got some nice new bits for baby. The only brand new expense was the pram/car seat set, and that was fairly close to the end of pregnancy.

I think we started buying cot bedding etc at 14 weeks as it was on sale, then started picking up bits of clothes etc. Pram bought at 16 weeks, again as it was on sale. Think we were mostly done by 35 weeks.

17 weeks with #2 and so far only bought 2 packs of nappies. Don't need as much this time as everything was neutral last time, so will be reused. Just need toiletries, more muslin clothes, sleeping bag, etc. Also a new monitor.

I would just start getting things here and there, especially in the sales. Congratulations as well Flowers

I'm 14+5 and will be hopefully buying a pram/pushchair and bedside crib at around 16-17 as we'll be in a country that has a greater variety to where we live now. Might pick up any other bits we see too but those are my two greatest concerns right now. We can get clothes etc here.
