I am 32 wks and am trying to decide what sort of a gift to get for my DS1, who is 5, from the baby, that will promote him to Big Brother status and make him feel important and still very much loved. Any suggestions?

dd gave ds (3.5) a spiderman dressing up outfit...i'd go for something like that that he's into...not that I think ds really would have bothered he was actually pretty smitten with his baby sister!

ds gave his new baby sister a lovely blanket which is the perfect gift for sibling to give baby as it's about the only thing a baby can use IYSWIM

On Blooming Marvellous (I think) they have t-shirts with the slogan "I'm a Big Brother". Am thinking of getting one for ds although he will have no real idea of what is going on at 20 months when no. 2 arrives!

I have bought ds a big brother t-shirt although like mumpbump he will only be 20 months old so won't appreciate it really! I'm trying to hink of something cooler though so will keep an eye on this post for any ideas!

Will be watching this thread with interest - I'm 33 weeks with my second - DS will be 4 when she arrivs. How about a simple digital camera? We're planning to get one for DS for his birthday next week anyeway, but it might be considered suitably grown up and special and he could take lots of pictures of his younger sibling...

We also bought ds something he wanted -Annie & Clarabel for his Thomas to pull and even now 3 years on he remembers what his baby sister brought for him!

I was given a toy lamb by my baby brother. My DD has just been given it (not for any special reason, my parents just found it in their loft) and is fascinated by the fact that Uncle brought this for mummy when he was born.

Why not get him a t-shirt made with a World's greatest big brother Logo on it

Thanks for your messages. I had thought about a digital camera actually. I have seen one (only one! Where do you get them?!?) for children i.e. hard wearing and almost unbreakable. He loves taking photos so I think he will really like it. Might get his Nanny to buy him a t-shirt too. Aah, the joys of being 5, pressies, pressies, pressies!

A camera is a fab idea for a 5yo. ds will be 2.4 when dc2 arrives and we have already bought a really lovely boy doll for this purpose.

We got a fisher price camera like this but cheaper from an ebay seller. I'm sure a cheaper adult one would produce better pictures but this is allegedly fairly indestructable.
