Stretch Mark Stress!!

I know it isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but please someone tell me why I had no stretch marks with my first and I'm currently 19 weeks and i have at least 15 😓😓😓 making me want to cry so much because I'm a hormonal mess and because I'm just someone who stresses a lot about this sort of thing despite me knowing it's irrational!!! No excessive weight gain so far either, I've actually lost 10lb. I don't understand why this is happening and by 40 weeks you won't even be able to see my skin through my stretch marks!

I wouldn't worry. I had no stretch marks throughout my entire pregnancy and hit 35 weeks, woke up one morning and I was covered. All over my boobs, belly, and down my thighs - bright red stretch marks. They faded so much within the first year and I've even grown to like them now. It just takes a little bit of adjustment.

I was covered in angry red stretch marks but nine months on and you can barely see them , in fact my husband has worse ones than me from losing/gaining weight !

AllTheCakes · 13/12/2018 22:12

Are you doing anything to prevent them? Smothering yourself in bio oil day and night helps!

LashesZ · 13/12/2018 22:16

I woke up one day at around 30 weeks pregnant covered in them. All over my inner thighs and behind my knees (?!) I was gutted. Since DD arrived I'm lucky to have my hair washed and dried let alone have time to worry about those pesky marks so in the grand scheme of things, I have bigger issues Grin

Hey ladies thank you for the replies. I know it's so bloody silly of me lol. I just have very low confidence levels and I really don't want that to be knocked further than it already is. And since I didn't get any with my son I just didn't think I would this time. Silly of me!! I'm using cream and oil twice a day but no luck 😓

It's comforting to know those of you that have had them that they faded though!! Did you find you can still feel them though as mine seem deep already?

Might not be to do with this but look at this! I got pruritic urticarial papules when I was pregnant with my stretch marks and it was a nightmare!

And I still have these and really quite noticeable still but as I'm loosing weight there not as noticeable

baubled · 13/12/2018 22:29

@LashesZ I got them behind my knees too! They're the only ones that now really bother me.

OP I posted a similar thread just after I had DS but now 2 years on I'm used to them and no where near as bothered, I know it won't make them feel any nicer but at least you're not on your own 😊

homegrownmumma · 14/12/2018 05:03

I can still feel the deep ones on my hips but the others are fine but then I am only 9 months on so they might still get better

mumofmunchkin · 14/12/2018 08:13

There’s nothing you can do to prevent them unfortunately - the stretching that causes marks happens at deep layers of skin that moisturisers just can’t reach. It’s just luck, and skin type. They do fade - I have some from puberty which are barely visible.

le42 · 14/12/2018 08:37

I’ve got loads under my tummy, upper thighs and hips - I got out out bath last night and saw myself in the mirror and got such a shock I had a little cry... I know it could be a lot worse and I’m so thankful the baby is growing healthy but it does get me down.... 😪 I’ve moisturised with coconut oil and everything every singe day... I don’t think they are preventable... my body is just so unrecognisable than from a few months ago it’s been a big shock to my system. But i keep thinking when I hold my baby I won’t be thinking about them 🙏

SoyDora · 14/12/2018 08:40

I didn’t get a single one with my first, was absolutely riddled with my second and am now 38 weeks with my third and so far have no new ones! I put on the same amount of weight with all pregnancies too, so it doesn’t make much sense.
The ones from my second have faded a lot, you can barely see them now. As I lost weight and toned up they became less and less noticeable.
