Glucose tolerance test...

Did anybody feel very light-headed and wobbly and sort of 'sugar-rush'y after the gloopy drink, but still pass the test? I'm wondering if how I felt is an indicator that I do have gestational diabetes (ie. the sugar affected me badly), or is it just because of the fasting? I'll find out the results on Thursday but I'm just wondering in the meantime... (too impatient!)

Yes generally felt very tired for most of that day and in a daze.

Mine came back fine

I felt very odd indeed - and in fact nearly fainted through the door of an Italian restaurant in Canterbury. I then had a very nice time indeed being fussed over by a very large extended Italian family and several waiters. A free meal, a glass of wine and huge amounts of unsilicited advice late, I took myself home feeling very cheerful indeed. And the test was fine, by the way, I think it's the fasting then the sugar hit that makes you feed grim.

A high concentration of sugar on an empty stomach will do that anyway, when you've been fasting. Try not to worry, it's not a good indicator of whether you have GD or not.

I had my results back within 24 hours; it might be worth you ringing them before Thursday if you're worried and asking if they have the result for you.

Thanks so much everyone, that's really made me feel better!! Will try to forget about it now. Well, forget about it in the sense of 'ring every morning just in case'

Shame I didn't tell you about the italian restaurant before you had the test - you could have planned your route home accordingly......

I always think if you didn't have diabetes before- that drink would give it to you, it's hard to stomach, and makes me feel yuck and i have a sweet tooth!! Anyway passed second test (not first though)
