Hello, I am currently 33+3 in what has been a very stressful pregnancy due to my underlying medical conditions. However baby has been fine all the way through, no concerns, she has actually been measuring nice and big and everyone saying how I’m going to have such a good sized baby when I have my planned section at 38 weeks.

Anyway just had my latest growth scan and she has dropped from 87th to 55th percentile and only gained 9oz in two weeks whereas her predicted weight gain should have been around 17-18oz. So although she is still a good size her pace has dropped right off and I have to have another scan in a week. Cord and placenta apparently looked ok. But if at the next scan she has moved further down the percentiles again she will be classified as IUGR and I’m terrified.

I am really upset. I know it could be nothing but I’m so worried. I now have to be extra vigilant with monitoring movements and I am a bag of anxiety. Please send me positive stories and vibes xx

I had IUGR with my dd.
I was scaned and monitored weekly until my section date.
You just need to be prepared for them to give you a quicker date than planned. I was scanned and told I would be taken in 2 days after.
And you are right to be vigilant about movements, I was constantly getting checked but they said it was better safe than sorry.
My dd was predictied to be 2lb and she came out at 4lb8oz. So she was heavier than expected.
Try relax and make sure your bag etc is all sorted just incase. Best of luck

Oh and I meant to say I was monitored from 20 weeks and held off until 36 weeks.

Thank you for replying, I have my bag packed all ready and I have kind of got my head around the idea of maybe having to have her earlier than planned. I am just so terrified that something is wrong with her or that the worst will happen. I know I’m probably jumping to conclusions but I just feel like something awful could happen now :-(

Just keep an eye on movements and go in if at all concerned.

Slightly different but I reported reduced movements at 30 weeks, kept in for a week as baby wasn’t hitting monitoring goals, then was monitored daily. During this a scan was done saying dd was all good as was Cord and placenta. Fast forward to routine consultant appointment and scan at 34 weeks and DD hadn’t grown and there was high pressure in the cord. Combined with the reduced movements baby was delivered that day. A 4lb DD. She spent 2 weeks in NICU but is a happy, healthy, tiny 6 month old 😍

My first baby had slowed growth picked up at 34 weeks (also oligohydramnios) and was induced. She was born at 35 weeks at 4lb 12oz (predicted 1lb lighter) and on 25%

Second baby I had placenta previa and was in hospital following bleeding when they scanned and baby was measuring 31 weeks at 36+5 and they organised a section for following morning but then forgot me! So she was born at 37 weeks and 5lb 14oz. First baby stayed small for ages but now average 3.5 year old and second baby grew sooo fast is now 4 months and not at all small! I think both were a bit growth restricted but the cord flow always okay, after second baby they said they think I have a septum in my womb which restricted growth

I had “IUGR” with my DS.

Last week he had dropped near to the 50th from the 90th and was estimated at 7lb 12oz.

He was born yesterday at 9lb 3oz, so the scans were way off.

Keep an eye on your movements, but do t concern yourself too much with what the scans say - they’re not always right x

Slightly different but my dc3 measured small from 28week growth scan and continued to gain very little amounts shown at 4weekly scans. She measured the same at the 36scan but nothing said despite my concerns. Had a late GD diagnosis at 37+5 (borderline) and the midwife I saw before the consultant was very concerned with my measurements and the Doppler reading she did. Sent for immediate scan where she seemed ok, cord seemed ok but she was small. Booked in for induction immediately, which didn't happen for 4 days. Monitored almost continually with potential C-section if needed. She was born weighing 4lb8oz, a few issues but now at 17months is very skinny but tall in comparison to others we know. My 2 previous dc weighed 5lb and 5lb 2oz so none have been big. Pregnant with dc4 and will be monitored for growth again. Try not to worry but do keep a close eye on movement and contact them with any concerns.

Thank you all. I'm really hoping the scan estimates are just a bit wrong but the sonography kept saying how she had such a good view and she was getting really clear pictures, she even wrote that on the report.

If her growth is slowing down I wish I knew what the reason is for it but the consultant (who I am seeing anyway due to being high risk) couldn't really suggest anything. The cord, fluid and placenta all looked ok on the scan and the pressures were normal, in fact all measurements pretty bang on average. So I don't know why she has suddenly stopped growing so much and I have worried myself with reading things about congenital problems etc etc.

I hardly slept last night and have been a bag of nerves trying to monitor her movements, if I don't feel her for a little while then I start freaking out. Any tips for how to get through the next couple of weeks? I'm considering asking the DAU if they will let me go for monitoring a couple of times to reassure me even if her movements are normal...

@Stephisaur I'm hoping the same thing will happen with my DD, hope the estimates are just off!

@superveggie fingers crossed for you.

I know it’s difficult but try to relax, stress doesn’t help baby grow. As long as she’s moving then she’s ok at whatever size she is xx
