Only eating two meals a day when pregnant?

Hi all.

I'm currently 27+4 with my first baby. Since becoming pregnant my appetite has completely tanked, and it's yet to return.

Most days I will only eat two 'proper' meals, usually breakfast and dinner and maybe a piece of fruit for lunch (though sometimes it'll be breakfast and lunch and a small snack in the evening), as I simply cannot muster the appetite to eat any more. I don't feel nauseous, just have no appetite!

I've gained just over a stone in weight so far, and baby is growing well and wiggling around like crazy. Midwife is happy with my fundal height and my weight, so I know I shouldn't be worried either, but part of me is worried baby isn't getting enough nutrients. I'm actually eating about the same that I ate before I got pregnant or maybe even a little less, not more!

Did anyone else completely lose their appetite when pregnant?

You only need around an extra 100 calories a day in your third third trimester. (the equivalent of a banana) if the midwife is happy and your baby is growing well I wouldn't worry. Congratulations btw

Yes, in both my pregnancies I lost a fair bit of weight ( I had enough to loose) and weighed less after delivery than pre conception, I had zero appetite but when I did eat I choose nutrious food, if they were concerned they’d advising otherwise, as long as baby is growing don’t worry about it, try little and often healthy options as oppose to big meals

Your baby will take what it needs from you to the detriment of you so your baby will be fine but you may feel low energy, run down etc. I felt like this during pregnancy and all was fine. I did take pregnancy vitamins tho which made me feel happier that baby would be ok.

Thanks all! I'm still taking pregnancy vitamins. I was anaemic at my first booking appointment but subsequent blood tests have been normal.

I wish this was the case for me!! My appetite is just insatiable it’s a nightmare!! 😂

I was the same, my baby is 12 days old and it hasn't returned, I'm really having to force myself to eat. I put on a stone for the whole pregnancy which really worried me as my previous two I'd put on a lot more weight but to reassure you, My fundal height didn't grow beyond 34 weeks but a growth scan showed she was fine and she came out 8lb 3.5oz so if your midwife is happy I wouldn't worry!

I'm eating about 10 meals a day, so can't really comment... Grin

I've put on three stone so I wouldnt recommend it.

Sounds fine to me. I'm 32 weeks and haven't gained anything yet. Baby is fine though.

I eat one meal a day this is all I can manage

I'm 19 weeks and I know my weight has been up and down. I have lost 98% of my appetite which means I have not felt hunger since I got pregnant. I only eat 2 or maybe 3 times a day when I can. Baby is healthy but I'm hoping things change for the better.
