What happens after you finish taking high strength iron tablets?

My consultant put me on a months worth of 2 a day 200mg ferrous sulphate tablets. I have about four days worth left, does anybody know what you're sposed to do after they're finished?

do you have to take a lower dose over the counter supplement to keep iron stores steady, or do they recommend an iron rich diet? (not incredibly easy since I'm veggie and skint)

Or am I "cured" now?

After a month of high doas iron tablets you should no longer be aneamic. But to maintain that, you need enough iron in you diet , and also a supplment such as floradix might help.

Thanks belgo, just googled floradix, it looks pretty good! Does it taste like poo?

I have to admit, I didn't like it, seem to remember adding it to orange juice.

Also, vitamin C helps the absorption of iron; milk hinders the absorption.

wow, didn't know milk hindered absorption, thanks for that! I've been taking my tablets with orange juice AND porridge made with milk every day. Think I'll give floradix a go then, thanks for your help!
