Hi All!

I didn't think my first post would be about poo but I see we are all very good at sharing all of the wonderful details of pregnancy so here we are!

I am just over 9 weeks in, still waiting for my first scan. This will be my first child! Pregnancy is interesting, but one thing I'm finding is that I am not going as regularly as before. It's been a few days now and nothing! No sign of any movement despite eating so much. I've tried things like lots of water, fibre etc, but to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem and what do you do? Are laxatives or suppositories safe to take during pregnancy? Please help! And sorry for the poo post!

Thanks!

Hey congratulations on your pregnancy!

Unfortunately that's just what comes with pregnancy sometimes lol. I was constipated through much of my pregnancy and my GP had prescribed me something to help loosen the poo (yuk I know) lol but before I even took it I started to go normally which is just typical lol. I had low iron levels aswell and had to take supplements and that made it difficult to go toilet but by that time I was already used to not going regularly. Maybe go to your GP and ask them about it

Lactulose! An absolute godsend! You can get it from the pharmacy (on minor ailments in Scotland) and doctor can prescribe it as well.
It tastes sickly sweet but will get you going. X

I found my pregnancy multivitamin (most probably the iron in it) was the culprit. Once I reached 12 weeks I stopped taking them and switched to an individual folic acid and vitamin D supplement for the duration and it was much better.
