Am i going to have an elephant? 😂

Seriously tho, is this okay? Im exactly 32 weeks, im 5ft2.5 and have a high bmi of 48.8(well at booking in app i did anyway)
I havent had a problem with overeating, if anything people are saying ive lost weight!

Anyway my bounty app says baby should weigh just under 4lbs, so im not overly concerened, anyone else had similar?

There's no way of knowing exactly what ur baby weighs and u have to allow 25% either way from what the scan tells u..
They all come out different so there's no way all babies can weigh just under 4lbs at 32 weeks.. don't worry urself..

Ffs they want me to come to a glucose test -_- thought id escaped it!

I had to do glucose test last week for a baby measuring 29w+3 at 28w+5 Hmm. Estimated weight at 28w+5 of 3 lbs. lady doing test with me measured 36w at 32w and did have GD. Just a tip did the test - try and make your post test meal protein rich ie scrambled eggs if you can wait to get home or if you really need to take a packed snack double the meat filling or hard boiled eggs etc ... stupidly I packed a houmous and salad bagel and the ‘carbiness’ on top of the sugar drink made me feel dreadful all day ... sleepy, foggy etc ... until about 5 pm. Fingers crossed for a healthy happy last few weeks x

If it makes you feel better I'm 33 weeks and the baby is 6lbs at my scan today...... I've had a GTT and a GCT and I'm being sent for one again! Oh the joys... !!!!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 11/12/2018 16:25

dont trust the weight guess, mine was 7lbs at 37 weeks.....delivered at 40+4 and she was 6lbs 6.

captainshortie · 11/12/2018 18:24

Ive read on here that the scans can be dodgy like, even with measuring the bump (got measured thursday and midwife said i was measuring 37 weeks....)
I know itll be harder anyway because I had a podgy belly to start, but cant help but feel insanley guilty that itll be something ive done that causes all these problems :/
Like I didnt have to have that 2nd can of coke... or 2 sugars in my coffee... or that 2nd bag of wotsits... :/
Im ill at the thought I could be hurting her with what Im eating

I had a scan at 35 weeks and was told baby was 8lb 3oz 😳 I was booked for a c section and had to test my glucose levels 3 times a day for a week. Baby came at 39 weeks weighing 8lb 3oz. What is your bump measuring?

captainshortie · 11/12/2018 18:43

Theyve only measured my bump once cause im having the growth scans, thursday gone a trainee measured it at 37 weeks (i was 31+3) and when actual midwife measured she got 34

Do they plot your bump and scan measurements on a chart? At mine you can see if you are in the healthy range (whether that’s 95 percentile down to 10th) - they don’t say “you’re measuring 34 weeks but you are 30 weeks” for example they just say you are at the top end of the healthy range.

captainshortie · 11/12/2018 19:07

Like i said theyve only measured bump once, so have nothing to compare that too.

Ive had 2 growth scans so far, first one she was bang on the 50th centile line and today shes bang on the 90th one.
They said the fluid around her should be 8 and mines 7.9. So im still in the healthy range but just.

Ive never known one of these estimates to be accurate. Don't worry about it

NatureGal · 11/12/2018 19:17

Had similar in my first pregnancy, as I had borderline GD, estimated big baby. Had 36week growth scan and weight estimated to be 8lbs ish so not massive. Born the next day weighing 5lb2oz. Growth charts had measured him as tracking the 9th centile since 28weeks too. I think they get a bit carried away sometimes especially if you have a higher bmi.

randomsabreuse · 11/12/2018 19:25

I had a scan 3 days before DS was born. Estimated 500g bigger than actual weight. Abdomen had suddenly gone off the scale. He is long and narrow - was born at 8lb at 38 weeks and looking at him after the birth you could see how crunched up he must have been in the womb.

Scan result plus couple of reduced movements episodes meant I was induced, which I was very glad about given I needed a ventouse.

Babyno2mamabear · 11/12/2018 19:59

Hi OP.....firstly don't worry about the weight of the baby because so many times these are horrible inaccurate!! You should have another scan which will the determine a bit of a clearer pic.

In terms of the glucose test, I know it's scary (I have to have one too!) But it's definitely for the best you have it and make sure both you and her are happy and healthy!

I'm a little surprised they haven't tested you sooner only because where I live they test absolutely everyone with a BMI of 30 or above! But just remember pregnancy isn't easy and you've done your blooming best, you have nothing to feel guilt for. Just get your glucose checked and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy xxx

ShoeJunkie · 11/12/2018 20:01

Conversely I measured perfectly throughout my second pregnancy and ended up with a 10lb 1oz baby!

Lauren83 · 11/12/2018 20:09

They had concerns about my DS getting too big and I tested negative for GD, his femur and abdomen were on the top centile line, I was induced at 38 and he was born by section weighing 8.12 and really really long, he is 11 months now on has stayed on top centile for height and weight so I think he was just always going to be a big lad

Fatted · 11/12/2018 20:20

I had 2 big babies. First was 9lbs 1 at 41 weeks and second was 8.5lbs at 38 weeks. Both were by c-section, although not because of their size.

Having a large baby itself isn't something to worry about. What they are more concerned about is that it can be a symptom of something more serious like gestational diabetes, excess fluid etc.

With my eldest I measured spot on throughout my pregnancy and never had any extra growth scans. I had a GTT at 28 weeks because of my BMI that was fine.

My youngest was a different story. Was constantly measuring big throughout my pregnancy. I felt like I was in the maternity unit every week after 28 weeks with him. I had constant GTT tests and growth scans because I was measuring so large. Every GTT came back at the higher end of the normal range and after scan the midwives told me I was simply having a large baby. The second I told them how big my eldest was they just told me I obviously have big babies. I'm only just over 5' myself!!

Now my boys are older they are still really tall! 5YO is not much shorter than me and my 3YO isn't too far behind him!

captainshortie · 11/12/2018 21:18

I think theyve left it this late because all my other tests have been normal, theres been no sugar/protein/whatever they test for in my wee, my bloods have been spot on, etc etc, ofc im only guessing thats why they havent done it.

She was measuring perfectly at last growth scan and now suddenly shot up! Truthfully im petrified theyll make me have a section which i really, REALLY dont want to happen! :(
Ive heard the heal time can be a nightmare when your overweight because of the positon of the scar (cause itll sit under your belly fat iyswim)

Growth scan 36 week sales showed 8lb 13oz whopper. Trainee sonographer said ‘I don’t know where to put head circumference- it’s literally off the chart.
2 weeks terror, anxiety, fear. Tears. Lots of tears.
Induced at 38 weeks. Perfect 7lb 3oz little bundle.
Relax.
Take good care of yourself- you and baby deserve it.
