So im literally having a little panic!
You cant lie on your back in third trimester to sleep...... but what about soaking in the bath?? HmmConfused
I never have it hotter than lukewarm (may aswell be friggen ice -_-) but i like to lie and watch a show on my phone for like... an hour..ish??
Its the only thing that helps relax my spd and make it not hurt for a bit

Can anyone help??

You’re not lying flat on your back in the back though are you you’re like propped up. It’s fine

Spudlet · 10/12/2018 22:16

You'll be fine, but remember you will displace more water than before so don't overfill it. One of my end of pregnancy memories is me accidentally causing a massive tidal wave and DH (who was working in the kitchen right below where the bath is!) charging upstairs brandishing a kitchen roll Grin

Also, when you get to the whale stage, you may wish to ensure someone strong is present to help winch you out (DH again.... sorry dear ConfusedGrinShock)

A bath is fine and it’s ok to have it hotter than lukewarm! The only worry I had in the latter stages would be that I’d be able to get out without assistance!

I guess not no! Just had a little panic cause its not really wrote anywhere, more about sleeping!

Thanks ladies :)

@spudlet ive learnt that the hard way aswell!! Filling it up to what i would before i was prenant and nearly flooding the bathroom!! Think im nearing the whale stage, OH went for a lie down an hour ago (not well he thinks its man flu.... its a head cold -_-) and im willing him to get up haha!!

You'll be fine. I'm not normally a fan of baths but when I'm pregnant I pretty much live in them. I love a good wollow.

WhiteWashGails · 10/12/2018 22:22

I always used to have very hot baths and I still do. Am in third trimester too. I think it had a lot to do with how comfortable you are. In bed flat on my back now at 34 weeks I can’t stay there for 1 second - my body rejects the position

Iswallowtoothpaste · 10/12/2018 22:24

I second the tidal surge from over filling. I actually rotted our bathroom floorboards 😳

Graphista · 10/12/2018 22:28

Be careful re getting out. We got to a stage I didn't dare risk it as even with then husbands help I struggled to get out and that was at 8 months!

We didn't have a shower at the time so for last month I was basically having a stand up bath!

FoxgloveStar · 11/12/2018 00:24

You are fine in the bath on your back. The water takes most of your weight so you are not putting pressure on baby.

Pigeoncat · 11/12/2018 00:27

The hospital had me lying on my back for pretty long periods in my third trimester. I asked them about it and they said it’s pretty much fine, just don’t actually do a full night’s sleep on your back.

Also, as someone else mentioned the water takes a lot of your weight so really nothing to worry about.

I had to give up baths by 36 weeks as i couldn't fit anymore Sad - the plus side though is how amazing they are afterwards! Simple pleasures Grin

Pomfluff · 11/12/2018 14:01

Love baths and having them every day (37wks)!! Gave up on them during first and second trimester since I was worried about overheating but now I keep the water medium warm and can always stick the bump out of the water if I think the temp might be too high. Baby seems to like it too and always falls asleep during a bath (water noises maybe?)
