Static fundal growth at 36 weeks...any advice?

Just been for my midwife appointment at 36+4, and my bump hasn't grown at all in the last 2 weeks. It was 31cm at 34+4 and 31cm today.

My bump measuring small is nothing new, it was way off the bottom of the 0 percentile at 28 weeks, had a growth scan and baby was fine, 50th percentile. Measurements then caught up a bit, and now have gone static. It was the same midwife that measured me last time and baby's in the same position.

Apparently the hospital will ring me in the next day or so and I'll go in for another growth scan but crapping myself in the meantime. She mentioned that I may have to cancel my next appointment in 2 weeks as 'he might be here by then depending on what happens at the scan'.

What's usually the reason for static growth? Is worst case scenario that they want to get him out ASAP? Anyone else been in the same situation that can talk me through it, thank you

Bumps are notoriously inaccurate for measurements as you found out at 28 weeks. Mine bump didn’t change from 32 to 38 weeks. They may have induced me but DD decided to come herself at 38+3. She was fine.

They will have to do 2 scans anyway to measure growth between them so it’s unlikely you’ll be induced at the first one anyway. I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Thanks yeah they do seem fairly inaccurate. My bump was measuring almost off the bottom of the chart at the 28 week appointment (23cm I think) but the baby was bang in the middle on the scan. Just worried that it's slowed down or appears to have. Scan tomorrow though so we'll see...

At least I'm nearly 37 weeks though so if anything does have to happen he's pretty much fully done! As you say he could even come before they make any decisions any way.

@MunderDifflin what was the outcome? Had exactly the same thing on Monday, not grown from 31 cm in two weeks. Have my 36 weeks scan a week today so midwife happy to hang on for that at the moment...

I'm having a similar situation! I'll be 30 weeks on Saturday but bump hasn't grown in three weeks. I've been sent for a growth scan and am pretty worried Sad

I have had two pregnancies with ‘bump measurement’ issues the first I was told not to worry some people have small bumps he was 8’9lbs second was constantly measuring small so referred for scans which were normal but this back and forth led to me being induced and he was 7’14. I’m currently pregnant with ds3 and due to unrelated issues I’m having extra scans and I have it in my notes to not be measured, which I am so relieved about as being induced was horrendous!

Long story short measurements mean squat they only still exist as there isn’t the funds for ultrasound machines at all clinics.
