Bleeding between 9 & 10 weeks

Really nervous as this is my first pregnancy. Sorry if TMI. Yesterday I started bleeding. Bright red blood. No pain. I've got a scan booked for Wednesday moving to check everything is okay. But I'd really like to hear from those who've been in this situation who've had a positive outcome.

I've had no cramping or pain. The blood has this morning slowed and turned brown. I've struggled to explain how much blood there has been to the doctor, but lots when wiping (even when wiping say 8 times) but nothing in a pad.
Thanks

Hi, I didn't wanna read and run as this is obviously very worrying for you. Bleeding in early pregnancy scan be a number of things, sometimes it's nothing at all and the result is a normal healthy pregnancy and other times unfortunately it's not.

I'm guessing you have been to the GP and been referred to the early pregnancy unit. Have they done your bloods at all or given you any information? The scan maybe will be internal - I had one at 5 weeks. It's a little uncomfortable but a smear test is much worse.

I really wishing the best for you I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed xx

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 10/12/2018 14:23

Thank you.

It's really worrying. I think it'll be an abdominal scan. I had a scan at 8 weeks that was internal. And was told after 9 weeks a scan would be abdominal. Will have to wait and see.

I had bleeding 10 times with first until week 13 no pain but once so much red blood had to chuck out PJ bottoms. She's 13 now. About 25 percent of successful pregnancies have bleeding so every chance you could be fine. Bled with second too and he was fine. First was IVF.

Yes I had bleeding in my first pregnancy on and off between 6 and 12 weeks. At 8 weeks there was a clot which convinced me it was all over. But he’s 8 now.

Of course sadly bleeding can have an unhappy outcome too.

Good luck for the scan.

@Penguinsetpandas @PaintBySticker thank you. I know every pregnancy I'd different but this has really helped xx

I had bleeding at 7,9 and 10 weeks, all was ok - obviously it’s so hard to tell but the midwife at EPC who scanned me said no pain was a good sign. Can you call EPU and see if the scan can be tomorrow, it’s such a hard wait x

xJune88 · 10/12/2018 16:07

I'm currently 18 weeks. Had 3 major bleeds with clots so far (no pain at all) at 9 weeks, 12 and just over 13. I had a extra chrononic hemorrage next to the sac which is like a big blood clot which just used to pour. Haven't had any bleeding now for 4 weeks so hoping it's gone. No pain really is a good sign fingers crossed for you xx

SnuggyBuggy · 10/12/2018 16:13

I had this at 10 weeks and it was cervical erosion due to hormone change. The scan showed that the bleeding wasn't near the foetus and the pregnancy was successful. Fingers crossed for you.

Glogirl0305 · 10/12/2018 16:17

I had bleeding at 9 and 11 weeks - 11 weeks was so heavy I sobbed in the waiting room of the EPU whilst trying to take a urine sample as it just wouldn't stop coming. Went in for the scan and the sonsographer told me I was the 3rd person she'd seen that day with the same problem and all of them walked away having seen their babies kicking about on the screen. They put it down to subchorionic hematoma that was there at 9 weeks but had gone by 11. No pain is definitely a good sign - let us know how it goes x

Jent13c · 10/12/2018 16:19

At 10 weeks I woke up with a strange feeling down my left side, not a pain more like a stretched muscle. Then about an hour later I passed around 200mls of blood and was pretty sure it was a miscarriage. We got a scan and he was quite happy in there kicking away. Bled until 16 weeks and he's nearly 2, sitting beside me watching peppa pig.
If you've seen a heartbeat the risk of miscarriage is greatly reduced. Obviously late miscarriages do still happen but not as often. I really hope all goes well for you at your scan, wouldnt wish that day on mu worst enemy.

Thank you all. I've got an appointment with my gp shortly, will see what he has to say.

Gp will be useless you need to go to epu and be scanned x

SnuggyBuggy · 10/12/2018 17:45

The GP can refer straight to the EPU.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 10/12/2018 18:52

I've got an appointment at epu on Wednesday. Gp was very nice. Reassuring but realistic at the same time.
Just got to wait till Wednesday

Good luck for Wednesday OP. I had bleeding at 7-8 weeks. Like you there was red blood when wiping but nothing on a pad. X

Gobletoffire · 10/12/2018 19:11

Forgot to add I’m now 25 weeks pregnant now! Xx

Hopefulbride18 · 10/12/2018 19:44

I’m nearly 14 weeks pregnant now but I had 3 red bleeds and brown bleeding pretty much daily between 5-11 weeks. They never found a cause! This totally ruined my first trimester so I really feel for you ❤️
Fingers crossed for good news xx

Thank you ladies for all the lovely messages.

I've had a scan this morning. Baby is doing fine, wiggling around and twice the size since my previous scan.
They identified the area of bleeding which is lower than baby. They said it's very common and might happen again. But they weren't concerned.

I bled on two occasions at week 7 and 8 and passed a large blood clot. Both scans were fine. I hope your scan is ok too. Is the bleeding settling? Cramps? I had no cramps.
I am 12 weeks and all fine now.

Bella245 · 12/12/2018 12:10

Excellent news! Really happy for you
