Hi,

I'm 15 weeks and so far all I've done is loose weight...

How much is a "normal" amount to expect to gain during pregnancy - I'm 14st 7lb now after loosing a stone through morning sickness.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It totally depends on your starting weight. The heavier you are, the less the recommended gain.

@CumbrianYellowBee89 I'm 15 weeks too and I've only gained 1 pound. Wouldn't worry too much about it x

I’m on my third pregnancy and have always lost about a stone in the first trimester due to sickness/loss of appetite.
Recommended weight gain overall depends on your starting weight. If you are overweight to start with then it’s recommended that you gain less than if you were a normal weight to start with.
Babycentre has a recommended weight gain calculator.
I’m 38 weeks, started with a healthy BMI and have gained about 1.5 stone.

I've lost weight too but I'm now 16+3 and this is the first week I have stopped loosing and started to gain. Try not to worry, it's very common in pregnancy :)

Thanks @SoyDora have just checked out the calculator and it's very helpful

Think it’s quite difficult to control, will totally depend on your body type. I weighed about 10st 4 (average build) and put on 4 STONE - not recommended but I wasn’t bingeing, just what my body did

I have a high bmi and dietician has recommended a 5kg-9kg gain by end of pregnancy. Got weighed with midwife I'm 24+3 weeks and now 2.5kg less than at booking in so I'm pleased.

Gizmo2206 · 11/12/2018 11:29

I was 9 stone pre pregnancy and put on 10kg in total but now 4 months post pregnancy I’m still 5kg above pre pregnancy weight whereas I know people who put on much more who lost it all quicker.

My other daughter was in a spica cast and needed carrying for a few months during that pregnancy so think that was a bit stressful and I didn’t gain any weight at all until 20 weeks. Probably from all the lifting and carrying I think

mortifiedmama · 11/12/2018 12:59

I lost a stone in the first 17 weeks, and have only just regained that now at 32 weeks (well I was 31+5 when I reached it again). I was overweight pre-pregnancy though (BMI around 27). I'm hoping not to gain more than a stone from my starting weight, but I find you don't have much control. Last pregnancy I lost 8lbs in first trimester but gained 2 stone from starting weight overall.
