When/how do we sign up? Is this something the midwife will help us with or is it up to us to organise? 20+2, first time parents. Thank you.

I am 38 weeks today and we have just finished NCT. i booked as soon as i found out i was expecting on the NCT website as i heard they book up quickly. The midwife wont have anything to do with NCT but they do offer a free NHS class i think.

Thank you, Poached. We'll look at booking this evening then!

NCT is not related in any way to the NHS so your midwife can't sign you up. You need to go to the NCT website, search your area and then sign up and pay there.

There will also be free ones in your area at a children's centre or similar, which the midwife can give you info about, but you will most likely need to ring and book on yourself. NCT is well worth the money in my opinion.

If possible try and go when you are 30+ weeks, there were 5 couples on my NCT course and we were all between 32/35 weeks when we went on the course. You may find you will be too early and you want to meet people due when you are if you want to remain friends
