Superstition or stupidity?

I'm 29 weeks pregnant. After four midnight wee breaks and a bit of an uncomfortable sleeping session, I woke today thinking 'today's the day'. I've had an overwhelming feeling today that my waters will break. I even put a sanitary towel on this morning.

Part of me just has that heavy period feeling that we all dread, part of me just feels that everything 'feels' very heavy and a bit 'different' and that last part of me is just thinking I'm being stoooopid.

So. My question.
What did you feel like the day your waters broke?
Did you 'know'?
Were there any tell tale signs?

Thanks everyone ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@letsdothis123 at 29 weeks you're unlikely to go into labour so I have no idea why you're worrying about it.
Just read some baby books like everyone else so you know everything that could happen.

Thanks. I know that. Hence the superstition / stupidity comment. I've got & read the books (like everyone else).
It's just that this is my first pregnancy and I'm curious to hear from others regarding their experiences. Thought that is what this forum stuff was all about. The books don't often relay other people's personal experiences and feelings.
Thanks again.

With my first baby I had several instinctual feelings that "this was the day".

I was wrong on all of them and ended up being induced at 42 weeks.

I was in work all day (I'm a nurse) went to bed as normal only to wake up about 11 pm as my waters had broke. I was 34 weeks pregnant at the time. I didn't feel any different in the day as such, but worked in the community so as we'd has a quiet spell in the afternoon (that doesn't happy any more lol) I sorted out all my boot stick, getting rid of stuff I wouldn't need was our of date etc. I always think it's funny as I obviously didn't go back to work for a year after that day. Sometimes I wonder if it was my sub conscious or just a coincidence. Try not to worry, it may be because you're growing so just feel 'heavier.

I just knew I was going to have DS on his due date - even though everyone said that first babies can be late. Water wants 2 days before due date and he came right on time Xmas Grin

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 08/12/2018 19:31

I had no 'today is the day' feelings with ds. My waters just popped rather dramatically as I was leaving the house.

I know the heavy feeling you mean but I'm sure it's just baby growing, moving position or your body adjusting to your growing belly. I'm 34 weeks atm and today I just feel like everything has dropped and feels different/heavy, not preparing for the birth just yet though!

Lymphy · 08/12/2018 20:46

@ThatOneHurt I was exactly the same!!

E20mom · 08/12/2018 20:53

I had no signs at all, they just broke

strawbmilk · 08/12/2018 21:06

No sign and I was overdue. Decided stupidly I would go into London for the day shopping but my waters broke between getting out of bed and reaching the bedroom door. Obviously Mother Nature had more sense than me! Grin

TerriB84 · 08/12/2018 21:11

My waters never broke before labour started so I have no idea what that feels like. I had a water birth and they went sometime during the late stages of labour. I was also 11 days overdue and even then I never really felt like today was the day.

Georgeofthejungle · 08/12/2018 21:16

On the day my waters broke I had literally just finished putting together the next to me and he made it look allnlretty beside my bed. I’d been cleaning the bathroom floor in my hands and knees and then decided to go for a lie down. I’d just made the bed in fresh covers (which I’d ironed!!) so decided to put a towel down just incase. I feel asleep for 10 mins and bang! Waters broke with a contraction. I had no obvious instinct but clearly my body knew what was about to happen! :) I was 40+1 x

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 08/12/2018 21:16

No 'signs' or instinct, but I wouldn't have trusted instinct anyway as I'd found out at the scan that the baby I was SURE was a boy was actually a girl. I had no energy and spent the whole day in bed, although I was working from home so did what I needed to do on my laptop. Waters went in the middle of the night at 36 weeks and baby arrived about 24 hours later.

FoxgloveStar · 08/12/2018 23:42

Sounds like baby is pushing on your vag, hence the heavy feeling. Try not to overthink!

ImNotBusyImLazy · 09/12/2018 08:13

I felt like "today's the day" from week 36. Baby came at 41 weeks.

Hmmmbiscuits · 09/12/2018 08:27

I always felt my son's birthdate would have an 8 in it. I remember looking at someone's birthday on paper thinking 'hmm the 28th looks familiar'.i was induced though, so no surprise as such, but do think it's funny I was right.

I'm convinced now that this one will be the 31st which will be late, but I'm so big already I'm.starting to doubt it. I have been pretty good at guessing when friends babies will come in the past, but not so much lately.

I think it's normal to have a feeling baby will come early on, but I wouldnt fret about it until you're around 36 weeks.

Hmmmbiscuits · 09/12/2018 08:28

By the way, only 25 weeks and 4 night wee breaks is the norm for me now. I'm shattered already!
