6 Days Overdue! Can contractions start and then stop?

Hi,

I'm pregnant with my second child, 1st child was also 11 days late and came after I had 3 cervical sweeps naturally.

Yesterday I had my first cervical sweep where they found that the cervix has ripened and open now. After the sweep I had cramping and last night waves of back pain and cramping. Pain was bad but I could still talk through them so nothing to rush to hospital for.

I made myself go to sleep last night through the discomfort and I have woken up and pains pretty much have gone!

Can contractions start and stop? Or was this just braxton hicks?

I have an induction booked for the 12th, should I call the midwife to see if I could get another cervical sweep before the 12th? Or am I being too pushy and just wait it out until induction?

Thanks in advance, just tired of being pregnant now lol

Yep. They can start and stop. For days. Happened to me for 8 days! Then during labour at one point, just stopped!

I would have another sweep. And keep the 12th open anyway, best of all worlds.

Yeah the risk of sweeps is they give you a stop start labour. With my first after every sweep I’d have a day of contractions and then they fizzled out.

Yea my contractions started one night at 11pm and carried on til 3am getting more and more regular. Until I laid down and fell sleep! They clearly stopped... I was SO disappointed in the morning!

The next night at 11pm again they started again and I sent DH off to bed saying it would probably be the same as the night before but I woke him up at 4am as I couldn’t time the contractions anymore. DS arrived that afternoon.
