Induction experiences at 40 weeks

I'm expecting to be induced at 40 weeks due to a stall in growth. I would much rather things started naturally but no sign so far of that happening (currently 39 weeks). I'm told the head is engaged and cervix is soft so hoping that will make the process easier.

What are your experiences of induction at this stage? I've been calm throughout my pregnancy but now feeling quite nervous about things and would appreciate hearing how others in a similar situation got on. FTM.

I was induced at 39+2 for predicted large baby and previous section. Had a sweep the day before so day after for induction I was dilated enough they just broke my waters however labour didn't progress there so went on the hormone drip and baby born naturally soon after that at 7lb 10. Hope all goes well!

I had a Propess induction at 40+2 due to reduced movement. It took 24hrs to kick in and progressed fairly quickly from there. Epidural 9:30, DD was born at half past two, Kiwi delivery though as she got stuck with the cord round her.
Good luck!

Thanks for sharing! I'm worried about not having as positive an outlook as I hoped to have in natural birth, hope induction does not automatically mean drawn out complicated delivery.

Induced at 39+5 due to a blood condition. Waters broke with a pessary but then nothing for over 24 hours so put on a drip. Ended up failing to progress after 9cm and baby became distressed so had an emergency section. Also had lots of pai killers inc 2 failed epidurals as i found the drip very painful.

the consultant told me induction increases the risk of assisted delivery but not sections. good luck!
